How to equip Legends in Teamfight Tactics (TFT)

A greedy catfish or adorable poro could turn you into a first-place Legend yourself.

Teamfight Tactics Set 9 is all about reforging the game into something new. While many of its biggest changes you'll experience while playing, one notable addition to TFT is something you choose before the game even starts: Legends. Now that Set 9 is out, let's break down just how to equip and use Legends in TFT.

What are Legends in TFT?

Legends are a new pre-game mechanic that helps influence what kind of augments the game will offer you. Once you've chosen a Legend, at least one of the augments you're offered each stage will reflect your preferred Legend. For example, if you choose the Ornn Legend, you'll be offered different Forge augments while you play, like Latent Forge, Portable Forge, and Living Forge.

But if you don't know where to pick these Legends, how do you do it?

How to choose Legends in TFT

To pick a Legend before you hop into game, start by entering a TFT lobby. You should see your icon, name, Tactician, Arena Skins, etc. You should also notice a new icon in the right corner. If you left-click it, it should open a new prompt that lists all 15 Legends. These Legends are different characters and creatures across  League of Legends/TFT lore.

When equipping a specific Legend, click on their icon so they show up on the right side of your window. You can choose to either explore their details or equip. All you have to do is click on that handy equip button and exit this window and you're properly armed for your next game of portal-hopping Set 9 TFT.

The best Legends in TFT

While all Legends have a place, there are a select few that are solid options no matter what you're building. Some of the best Legends and augments that can work with a wide range of builds include:

  • Aurelion Sol– Augments make leveling up cost less and lets you reach Level 10
  • Draven– Augments give you X% chance of loot when killing an enemy
  • Ezreal– Offers a variety of Item Component-focused augments
  • Tahm Kench–Gold-giving augments
  • Urf–Augments with Tome of Traits options

Other Legends like Veigar and Master Yi are also quite strong, but they are much better fits for specific AP or Attack Speed focused builds. Also, if you want to check out what the pros are doing, check out Tracker Network's TFT leaderboards to inspire your Legends' choices.

However, if you prefer to opt-out of all this augment-tailoring, you can choose the Poro Legend and just play a normal, fully randomized game of TFT.
