Could Valorant be coming to mobile?

It seems like Riot are currently testing out the UI for a mobile version of Valorant.

Datamined content from the recent 1.08 patch appears to show that Valorant mobile is still in the works. Unfortunately though for Android and iOS users, it is still probably a long way off.

From very early on, Riot Games made it clear that Valorant was being released as a competitive PC title. They’ve seen huge success with League of Legends, so it’s not surprising that they want to follow a similar blueprint in the FPS genre.

With that said, the Valorant developers never hid the fact that the game could one day become available on other platforms. As well as potentially expanding into mobile, we know that they are also prototyping for console.

Speaking to GameSpot shortly after launch, Executive Producer Anna Donlon discussed the possibility of a port to PlayStation and Xbox. “It’s not a no, for sure”, she explained, adding “It definitely wasn’t the focus out of the gate. If we were to do it, it’ll definitely be delayed”.

Whilst Riot haven’t said much on the subject as of late, it appears that hope is not lost. Valorant leaks account @ValorantExpress shared some interesting findings following last week’s update.

A string was added reading “action to perform when double tapping on right hand side of screen”. Based on this we can assume that they are designing a user interface for touchscreen devices such as a phone or tablet.

This will be exciting news for the many mobile gamers out there who have been longing to get their hands on Valorant. However, I wouldn’t expect anything too soon.

Riot have always maintained that they will only release to other platforms if the game is truly ready. They want to replicate the PC experience as closely as possible and this is no easy task.

Until officially confirmed by the developers, we can’t be certain that Valorant will ever come to mobile and console. This leak is a promising sign though and at least we know the idea hasn’t yet been scrapped.
