Riot Games has enabled queue-time throttling on their newly released auto-chase game Teamfight Tactics, after the massively popular release of the game has seen wait times to enter the eight-player matches soar in regions like North American and Europe.
Players in those larger regions have reportedly been waiting to play the game before entering each lobby, with the wait times sometimes rising to half-an-hour or more - basically enough time to fit in a real game of *League of Legends* on Summoner's Rift.
NA has already had queue throttling to cope with the problems, and after the even bigger release on the Europopean West servers, the same time-development technique has been launched for EUW players as well, including on the mainland, and in the United Kingdom.
“As we head into the evening in Europe, we are seeing extremely large numbers of games and we have enabled queue time throttling,” Riot's senior design manager Ed Altorfer said on the new timing tactics.
“Expect this to continue through peak time. If the times exceed 15 minutes we will put up a ticker message.”
It's also expected these queue time throttling devices will be launched on other larger regions, like Europe North-East, in an effort to keep Riot's servers from burning out completely. Smaller regions like South America and Australia have been largely unaffected so far.
These countermeasures show one thing: Teamfight Tactics is outrageously popular, perhaps more than Riot and the world could ever have expected.
The game has already surged to the top of the Twitch.tv charts, and with servers on the precipice of failing with so much traffic, it seems like Riot's auto chess version may have just taken first place in the race to release a strong clone of Doda's original DOTA2 modified version.
What do you think of the new Teamfight Tactics release? Is it the best Auto Chess-variant that has come out so far?
