Fortnite Removing Rocket Racing, Ballistic & Festival Battle Stage in 2026 Shutdown

Fortnite is removing Rocket Racing, Ballistic, and Festival Battle Stage after low engagement, sparking backlash. Typical Gamer proposed taking over Ballistic, highlighting community belief the mode deserved more time.

Fortnite is removing several of its newer modes as Epic shifts focus away from underperforming experiences and toward a more creator-driven future powered by UEFN.

What’s Being Removed

Epic confirmed that three modes are being shut down due to low engagement:

  • Rocket Racing → leaves October 2026
  • Ballistic → removed April 16, 2026 (v40.20)
  • Festival Battle Stage → removed April 16, 2026

This marks one of the biggest rollbacks of official modes in Fortnite.

Ballistic Removed Early Despite Potential

Ballistic will go offline very soon, on April 16. Players can still play and rank up until then, but after that, the mode is gone.

This is the most controversial removal. Many players felt Ballistic had strong potential if Epic continued updating it, especially since FPS tools are still staying in UEFN for future creator modes.

One of the most interesting responses came from content creator Typical Gamer, who proposed a different solution instead of shutting Ballistic down.

Rocket Racing Slows Down First

Rocket Racing isn’t disappearing immediately, but it’s already being phased out and will be removed in October. Quests are being removed, no new ranked rewards are planned, and its UEFN templates are going away.

Players will still keep their Vehicle Locker items, and Epic is instead adding racing tools—like car physics and track systems—into standard UEFN. This shows a clear shift from official support to creator-made racing maps.

Festival Battle Stage Also Cut

The competitive version of Fortnite Festival is being removed at the same time as Ballistic. The core music modes—Main Stage and Jam Stage—will continue, but the PvP format is being dropped.
