What if we told you that you can play on the Warzone Battle Royale map right now...?

Okay, that's not entirely true; But you may have noticed that a very large portion of the leaked Battle Royale map is composed of various Spec Ops, Ground War, and Multiplayer maps from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.

Before we get started, if you're not familiar with the Call of Duty: Warzone / Modern Warfare Battle Royale rumors, consider reading our article which summarizes the recent events.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s Battle Royale mode may be named Warzone
With the launch excitement of Modern Warfare Season 2 dying down, interest has suddenly peaked once again as what appears to be promotional art for a title named Call of Duty: Warzone has leaked online from an anonymous source.

Long story short, Battle Royale has been a rumor for Modern Warfare since before its release. Recently, leaks and in-game glitches have revealed that this mode will likely be named Warzone - but an official confirmation has yet to be seen, and the release date is unknown at this time.

Verdansk

In November of 2019, /u/Senescallo, a Redditor with a reliable track record of leaks shared a post on Reddit which contained details regarding the Modern Warfare Battle Royale map and many other things.

Just as players suspected, the playable world known as Verdansk, which is primarily explored throughout Modern Warfare's Spec Ops missions, was said to also be the Battle Royale map.

Locations such as the Dam, Downtown, Gulag, Hospital, Port, Quarry, Supercenter, TV Station, and many more were listed as playable areas in Battle Royale. The vast majority of these locations were already sectioned off into their own levels in the Spec Ops and Ground War maps, while a few others have since become playable in newly released content. However, a few locations, such as the TV Station, Hospital, and Trainyard have yet to be released.

Spec Ops

Since then, Redditor /u/Kalinine, who's familiar with the world of Spec Ops, has overlaid the boundaries for these locations atop the leaked map. This gives us an improved sense of which locations are where, and how much of the map we've already played.

In this image, the Spec Ops location boundaries are in blue, the Ground War location boundaries are in red, and the legacy location boundaries are in orange - this represent locations which were available in previous titles.

Leaked Map

Kalinine estimates that, depending on the playable boundaries, we may have already played roughly 25%-40% of the Battle Royale map. It's also estimated that the size of the map is roughly 8 km squared, which is nearly double the size of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4's Blackout map!

With all of this being said, you may be worried that there's not much left to explore in the Battle Royale map - but thankfully, that's not the case.

The Dam, Hospital, Train Station, TV Station, and Gulag Prison Complex are all locations which have yet to be explored. Interestingly enough, thanks to a glitch using the CODCaster system, players can explore a low-poly version of these locations.

Dam

The Dam can be found in the Northwest corner of the map. Not much is known about this location, though some have pointed out the resemblance to Blackout's Dam.

Dam

Hospital

The Hospital can be found West of Tavorsk District, but is has yet to be accessible in-game.

Hospital

Train Station

The Train Station can be found East of Zohkov Boneyard. Some players have theorized that a train may be present in the Battle Royale mode, which players could utilize to quickly travel around the map.

Train Station

TV Station (Broadcast)

The TV Station can be found South of Operation Harbinger and is a replica of Broadcast from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (2007).

TV Station

Gular Prison Complex

Not to be confused with the Gulag Gunfight map, the Gulag Prison Complex can be found in the Southeast corner of the map.

This is the Gulag Prison from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2's 'The Gulag' Campaign mission, in which players first meet Captain Price (Prisoner #627) since the end of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.

Gulag

Azure Swimming Pool

In Operation Paladin, players are tasked with protecting Linda Morales while waiting for exfil to arrive. This section of the Operation is set in the Azure Swimming Pool in Pryp'yat', Ukraine - you may recognize it from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare's 'One Shot, One Kill' Campaign mission!

This location can be found South of Operation Crosswind.

Evolution

Throughout the months, Verdansk has seen some serious changes which prove that it is still a work in progress as the release of Warzone closes in.

Most notably, the location which Operation Harbinger is set has seen its trees removed and glass added to all of the windows. This is very likely for performance and balance reasons relating to Battle Royale.

As previously stated, we're still unaware of when Warzone will see an official release. We'll keep you updated on Twitter @CODTracker!
