A few patches after the release of Naafiri, League of Legends  is once again gearing up for a new champion. This time we're in for a more enigmatic and edgier character whose name is Briar. Briar is said to be a hangry jungler, fueled by an insatiable hunger and seething anger.

Who is Briar in League of Legends

Briar is the upcoming champion and will be the 166th to be released in League of Legends. First introduced at the beginning of 2023, Riot Lexical had revealed hints about the new champion, referring to her as the 'Hangry' (Hungry + Angry) jungler, alongside an image of a dark castle. But as we approach her release, more information is being unveiled

Hailing from Noxus, Briar boasts a child-like appearance with a mix of white and magenta hair, and a set of sharp and pointed teeth, much like a Vampire.

According to her mini-bio, Briar is a product of a failed experiment by the Black Rose, a Noxian cult-like cabal, and only a special pillory equipped by a hemolith can control her. But, as time passed, Briar eventually managed to shatter her constraints, indulging her insatiable hunger for blood

Riot has at last unveiled the full scope of Briar's abilities she has a pretty unique kit. Briar is a champion that instead of mana, consumes a percentage of your max HP, and heavily relies on lifesteal and a lot of healing. However, what truly sets her skills apart is a unique mechanic that enables her to taunt herself, entering a berserk state where she loses control and relentlessly assaults her target.

Looking at her abilities, it can be said that she is not only viable in the jungle but also in the top lane.

Passive - Crimson Curse

Briar gains increased Healing based on her missing health and her attacks and abilities apply a bleed for short duration that stacks. The bleed deals physical damage based on the number of stacks and Heals Briar for a percentage of the pre-mitigation damage.

Briar has no base health regeneration and her abilities cost health to cast.

Q - Head Rush

Briar leaps to a target, Stunning them for a short duration, dealing physical damage, and reducing their armor.
Briar will stop prioritizing champions if she casts this Ability on a minion or monster during Blood Frenzy.

E - Chilling Scream

Begin Charging: Briar removes Blood Frenzy and gathers energy, gaining damage reduction and restoring health

Release: Briar unleashes a scream that deals damage based on time charged and Slows for a short duration. When fully charged the scream knocks back, dealing additional damage to enemies that hit a wall and Stunning them.

R - Certain Death

Briar kicks a hemolith and flies to the location of the first champion hit, marking them as her prey. On landing she deals a large amount of physical damage to everything nearby and causes nearby enemies to Flee. She then enters an empowered Blood Frenzy and will pursue her prey until one of them dies. During this time she gains Armor, Magic Resist, and additional Move Speed.

When is League of Legends Briar’s Release Date

LoL Briar is expected to enter the rift in LoL Patch 13.18, on September 13, 2023. With only few weeks away from League of Legend 2023 World Championship, it is less likely that Briar will be playable in the tournament.
