League of Legends’ Newest Jungler, Briar Is Set to Arrive Sooner Than Expected on the PBE

Following the debut of the mid-lane Darkin Assassin, Naafiri, a recent update hints at the arrival of a brand-new champion. Briar, the ravenous Jungler, who was initially teased last year, might make an appearance sooner than the community had anticipated, as per Riot Games' latest revelations.

Naafiri, the Darkin Assassin has just been released in the current LoL Patch 13.14. However, it appears that League of Legends has no intentions of slowing down, as they are already in motion to welcome yet another champion to their current champion roster. After the recent dev update, Riot Meddler disclosed that Briar is set to arrive on the PBE (Public Beta Environment) sometime between now and the upcoming dev update.

On his Reddit account, he mentioned “You'll see her on PBE at least between now and the next dev update. Dev updates are generally 4-6 weeks apart, though timing will vary depending on what else is going on and how much we've got ready to talk about.”

From this information, it is likely that Briar will be out of the bag in September this year. He also added that the Noxian jungler will be playable before the League of Legends World Champion, scheduled to kick off in October. However, there remains a possibility that she might be disabled during the actual tournament. Hence, it is unlikely for players to witness how she will fare against every other champion throughout the event. Naafiri on the other hand will be available.

Who is Briar in League of Legends?

As of writing, little has been unveiled about the champion, leaving players in anticipation as no information regarding her abilities, gameplay, and kit has surfaced yet. However, Riot had revealed some hints a year ago about Briar via Season 2023 | LoL Pls. Riot Lexical referred to the champion as a hangry jungler, a mix of the words “Hungry” and “Angry”. They also presented an image of castle that appeared to have  leaped straight from a Dracula-esque movie. Due to this, many are now theorizing that she might be akin to a vampire, driven by an insatiable hunger, seeking to feast on something to sate her desires.

Several months back, a dev blog entitled Champion Roadmap: April 2023 was also released where they revealed Briar as a Noxian character endowed with an insatiable hunger, adding an air of excitement and intrigue to the upcoming champion's arrival.
