Huge Valorant Act 2 patch: Killjoy, FFA Deathmatch & Raze nerfs

The second phase of Valorant’s first episode is here and brings with it some massive changes and fresh content. Here’s everything you need to know about patch 1.05.

Right on schedule, Valorant Episode 1, Act 2, has arrived. This means a new Battle Pass, as well as a brand-new Agent and game mode!

Let’s take a look at the highlights:

New Agent

The 12thValorant Agent, Killjoy, has entered the fray. Her kit includes a bunch of awesome tech that will help you out-strategize your enemies.

You can check out this German’s full set of abilities and learn why some pro players expect her to be overpowered here.

As usual, Killjoy and her associated rewards can be unlocked with the completion of a newly added contract.

Raze updates

One of the game’s strongest fraggers, Raze, just got taken down a few pegs. Her Showstopper ult and Blast Pack both received significant nerfs, designed to make her easier to counter.

Showstopper

  • Equip Time increased 1.1 >>> 1.4
  • Quick Equip Time increased 0.5 >>> 0.7
  • VFX reduced when firing rocket
  • VFX on rocket’s trail slightly reduced

Blast Pack

  • Damage decreased 75 >>> 50
  • Damage to objects now consistently does 600

FFA Deathmatch

One of the most highly requested features since launch, Valorant finally has a Deathmatch playlist. Initially the mode is only in beta, but hopefully with successful testing it will become a permanent fixture.

This will be the perfect way to warm up and work on improving your aiming skills.

  • 10-player free-for-all
  • First to 30 kills with a time limit of 6 minutes
  • No abilities
  • You’ll load in as a random Agent that you own
  • Buy whatever weapons you want; heavy armour is given to you automatically
  • Killing enemies drops health kits: picking one up fully restores your health/armour AND automatically reloads your weapon
  • All enemies are periodically revealed on the minimap
  • Availability will be limited to specific windows upon deployment of 1.05, with the first window starting Wednesday, August 5.

Ranked Mode

Competitive Act 1 has concluded, and Competitive Act 2 will now begin. For returning ranked players, you will have to play 3 matches to earn your new rank.

You can expect this to be a bit lower than you rank from Act 1, but performance will have a larger impact in your early games, helping you to get back to where you belong.

Be sure to read the “Act II Ranks and Competitive Changes” blog post from Riot to learn all about the newly introduced Act Ranks system.
