Yuumi Rework: All Abilities Revealed for League of Legends Patch 13.5

Here's everything you need to know about the Yuumi Rework in League of Legends.

Yuumi is now undergoing one of history's most eagerly awaited reworks after years of protests and turmoil.

Released in 2019, the magical cat has developed the reputation of becoming a bot lane menace by turning her host into an indestructible killing machine thanks to her unparalleled sustain, and absurdly high damage output. While most enchanter support is capable of such, what irks most of the players even more is Yuumi’s ability to become untargetable for majority of the time. Riot Games therefore hopes to address this issue in the upcoming Patch 13.5 after the ruthless nerfs implemented in previous patches.

Of all the easy champions in the game, Yuumi remains as a contentious one due to the nature of her kit. She has simple gameplay mechanics and straightforward abilities, yet the team still struggles to balance her.

Her status as the competitive scene's most frequently banned champion and her high pick rates throughout the years resulted in a number of nerfs. The cat's percentage plummeted to 40% as a result of the deadliest nerf which occurred in the preceding Patch 13.1b when they essentially murdered her.

Matthew Leung-Harrison, better known as "Riot Phroxzon," announced the release of the reworked Yuumi and provided a thorough rundown of her abilities in his tweet. According to the Lead Designer, the philosophy behind these changes stemmed from her being vexing to play against when optimized, and her strong presence in pro scene, mainly due to her untargetability.  Generally, the majority of the  changes revolve around making sure she remains as a beginner-friendly champion with a high-skill ceiling.

Even though many players are opposed to the idea, Yuumi’s ability to attach to her host still remains as the focal point of her kit. This time, though, it is designed to reward her for remaining loyal to a single buddy or lane partner rather than her fed teammate from another lane. Her insane healing also is no longer tied to her third ability, but will rely on landing her normal attacks and abilities. Overall, the rework is made to make her whole kit a bit more interactive, and viable.
