VCT Masters Tokyo Day 4: Recap

Day 4 recapped!

Day 4 of the VCT Masters Tokyo tournament took place today and here is a recap of all the action!

DRX 2-1 FUT Esports

The first series of the day, which was the Decider matchup in Group B, was between South Korean team DRX and Turkish team FUT Esports.

Things got started off on Bind. The first five rounds were extremely close, as the teams kept on trading rounds and the score after that was 3-2 in favor of DRX. After that, FUT went on an absolute rampage, winning the last seven rounds in the first half and going up 9-3. DRX attempted to comeback in the second half, and came close, but it was FUT Esports who closed things out with a 13-9 victory.

The second map was Fracture. DRX started things off well, winning the first two rounds. FUT then won four straight to go up 4-2. After that, it was back and forth between the two teams and the first half ended in a tie at 6-6. This was anyone's game. DRX had a crazy performance in the second half, winning seven out of ten rounds to win the game. The final score was 13-8.

It all came down to map three, which was Haven. DRX looked absolutely dominant and FUT Esports stood no chance in this one, as the South Korean team won eleven rounds in the first half and then easily won the game in the second half. The final score was 13-4.

Leading DRX was BuZz, who had a KDA of 55-39-9 and an ACS of 265. On the other hand, leading FUT Esports was qw1, who had a KDA of 60-42-7 and an ACS of 258.

With the win, DRX now advance to the Playoffs, which is set to start on June 15th. They will face off against Paper Rex. With the loss, this is unfortunately the end of the road for FUT Esports at Masters Tokyo.

EDward Gaming 2-0 T1

The second and final series of the day, which was the Decider matchup in Group A, was between Chinese team EDward Gaming and South Korean team T1.

The first map was Fracture. This wasn't a close game at all, as EDG won the first eight rounds in the first half and then easily won five straight after halftime to close things out rather quickly. The final score was 13-4.

Haven was the second map. T1 again had a lackluster first half, as they only won two rounds. The score at halftime was 10-2 in favor of EDward Gaming. Things initially looked good for T1, as they won four straight rounds to open the second half, but their luck ran out there as EDG then won the next three rounds to win the game. The final score was 13-6.

Leading EDward Gaming was ZmjjKK, who had a KDA of 42-24-8 and an ACS of 323. Incredible stuff from the Duelist player. On the other side, leading T1 was Munchkin, who had a KDA of 27-28-3 and an ACS of 222.

With the win, EDward Gaming advance to the playoffs, where they are set to play against Team Liquid on June 16th. With the loss, this is the end of the road for T1 at Masters Tokyo.
