Day 3 of the VCT 2023 LOCK//IN tournament took place today and here is a recap of all the action!
Evil Geniuses 2-0 Team Heretics
The first matchup of the day was between Evil Geniuses and Team Heretics. The first map was Pearl and the game started out pretty even, with a score of 6-6 after the first half. Evil Geniuses took over in the second half, winning seven rounds to win the game. The final score was 13-8.
The second map, Ascent, started out pretty similar to the last one. Evil Geniuses took a 7-5 lead after the first half and again dominated in the second half, winning with a final score 0f 13-8 once again.
Leading Evil Geniuses stats-wise was Ethan, who had a combined KDA of 45-25-29 through both maps. Incredible stuff from him. On the other side, leading Team Heretics was keloqz, who had a KDA of 38-33-5 through both maps.
With the win, Evil Geniuses advance to the quarterfinals of the Alphra group. Their next matchup comes against Talon Esports on February 18th. With the loss, this unfortunately means that Team Heretics are out of the tournament and sent home due to the single-elimination format.

Talon Esports 2-0 MIBR
The second matchup of the day was between APAC team Talon Esports and Brazilian team MIBR. Talon Esports took an early 7-5 lead in the first half of the first map, which was Haven. The second half went back and forth, but Talon Esports got the map win. The final score was 13-8.
The second map, Fracture, was a bit closer. Talon Esports again won the first half with a score of 7-5, but things got interesting in the second half. MIBR won the first five rounds, and things were looking good for them. However, Talon Esports had other plans and came back, winning six more rounds to win the game with a final score of 13-11.
Leading Talon Esports was Sushiboys, who had a KDA of 37-29-8 through both maps. On the other side, leading MIBR was frz, who had a KDA of 37-32-13 through both maps as well.
With the win, Talon Esports advance to the quarterfinals of the Alpha group, where they will face off against Evil Geniuses on February 18th. With the loss, this means that MIBR are out of the tournament.

LOUD 2-0 Gen.G
The third and final matchup of the day was between LOUD and Gen.G. The first map, Pearl, was extremely interesting. LOUD opened up the game hot, winning four straight rounds. However, Gen.G bounced back and won the next seven rounds. The score after the first half was 7-5 in favor of Gen.G. The second half started off with Gen.G winning the first two rounds, but then LOUD had other plans in mind and won eight straight rounds to win the game. The final score was 13-9.
The second map, Fracture, was also a super chaotic one. LOUD won the first half, with a score of 8-4. However, Gen.G won eight rounds in the second half to force overtime. In overtime, LOUD won both rounds, which shut down Gen.G's comeback. The final score was 14-12.
Leading LOUD was cauanzin, who had a KDA of 41-34-24 through both maps. On the other side, leading Gen.G was k1Ng, who himself had a KDA of 44-32-23 through both maps.
With the win, this means that LOUD advance to the quarterfinals of the Alpha stage. Their next matchup will come against Karmine Corp on February 17th. With the loss, this means that Gen.G are out of the tournament due to the single-elimination format.

The next matchups, which will be the quarterfinals for the Alpha group, will take place on February 17th - Giants vs NRG & Karmine Corp vs LOUD.
