VCT EMEA Ascension: DAY 4 RECAP

The fourth day of the VCT EMEA Ascension saw some exciting matches and surprising upsets. Here's a recap of the fourth day of the competition.

RECAP

SAW 2-1 DSYRE

SAW defeated DSYRE in VCT EMEA Ascension. DSYRE came into the match on a high note, having just defeated Acend, the favourites of Group A. However, SAW was able to weather the storm and take the series. This win is a major boost for SAW, who are now in first place in their group, the team won three consecutive matches. DSYRE, on the other hand, will need to regroup after this loss. The first map of the series was Ascent, which SAW won in a 13-4 scoreline. DSYRE won the second map, Split, in a 13-11 scoreline. However, SAW came back strong in the third and final map, Lotus, which ended in a 13-5 scoreline for them. With this win, SAW becomes the first to advance to the next stage of the competition, a spot in Ascension LAN in Berlin.

Team Falcons 1-2 FOKUS

Team Falcons and FOKUS gave it all in their recent matchup. However, FOKUS came on top and managed to secure a massive win against MENA's Falcons. FOKUS came from a recent defeat to the French Gentle Mates, and Falcons came from a recent win against Spain's CASE Esports. However, both teams are now in a difficult position, as both teams might be out of the competition regardless of future results. This is because there are several other teams in the group that are also in contention for slots in Berlin's LAN. Falcons took the first map, Fracture, in a convincing 13-6 scoreline. But FOKUS managed to bounce back and claim both Pearl and Lotus in 13-9 and 13-10 scores respectively.

Digital Athletics 2-1 CGN Esports

Digital Athletics defeated CGN Esports in VCT EMEA Ascension Group A. Digital Athletics came into the match as the underdogs, but the team was able to pull off the upset. The first map of the series was Haven, which CGN claimed in a 13-9 scoreline. However, DA kept their cool and stomped CGN on Lotus, winning it 13-5. And the last map, although close, was the final nail in CGN's coffin. Digital Athletics closed Ascent in a 13-11 scoreline. Eliminating CGN Esports from the competition and keeping the lifeline alive.

APEKS 2-0 Gentle Mates

APEKS stomped Gentle Mates in Group B. APEKS won the first map, Haven, 13-11, and the second map, Ascent, 13-9.  APEKS came into the match as the favorites, and they lived up to expectations by winning both maps in convincing fashion. They were led by Keiko, who had a great series, finishing with 42 kills and 27. Gentle Mates put up a good fight, but the team was unable to overcome APEKS.
