VCL Italy: Preview

Everything you need to know about the Italian VCL!

Brand new for the 2023 competitive season is VCL Italy: Rinascimento. Here's everything you need to know about split one!

Format

The regular season features eight teams competing against each other in a Double Round Robin format. All matches are best of one and the top four teams will qualify to the playoffs. The playoffs will feature a McIntyre System bracket and all matches will be best of fives.

Teams

Here are all the teams competing in Split 1

1) DSYRE

The first invited team to the Italian VCL is Dsyre. The Italian esports organization first entered Valorant in 2021. They recently promoted their Elevate roster to the main roster and made some changes for the upcoming split.

This roster features great upcoming talents and experienced players. Italian players Tag, caydeN, and xazyy all joined Dsyre Elevate in September 2022 and will be a part of this main Dsyre roster for the upcoming VCL. Up and coming Estonian player WACKIE also joined Dsyre Elevate in September and will be a part of this main roster as well. The newest addition to Dsyre is former OG LDN UTD player feqew. The Lithuanian has also played for Team Vitality in the past, so he brings a lot of experience to this team. The new sixth man for Dsyre is Italian player ZANX. This is his first competitive Valorant experience under an organization. The Coach of the roster, simoz, is from the Dsyre Elevate roster. He has also coached for Mkers and CyberGround Gaming in the past. This is one of the stronger teams in the league and they should do well.

2) QLASH

The second invited team to VCL Italy is QLASH. The Italian esports organization has had a long successful history in the Italian Valorant scene. On January 20th, they announced their roster for the league.

This is one of the most interesting rosters in the league. SparkeR, rhagee, and EduCoz have all been teammates for a long time, on multiple different rosters. They joined QLASH in January 2022 and have placed well in Italian cups and tournaments since then. Joining them is Italian content creator and Valorant player Lomba. He has played for QLASH since October of last year and will be continuing with them for the upcoming VCL Italy split. Rounding out the roster is Czech player soRa. He has previously played for various mixes and teams in the Eastern Europe region. It'll be interesting to see if this roster can play well against some of the stronger ones in the league.

3) Macko Esports

Italian esports organization Macko Esports are the third invited team to VCL Italy: Rinascimento. They have competed in Valorant since 2021. On January 12th, they announced their new roster for the upcoming Italian VCL.

This full Italian roster features up and coming talents and experienced players. Byron hails from Yutoru, DrastZ from Vx300 Gaming, Z3RO from Axolotl, Alan from 4Real, and mass3R last played for SPARX ESPORTS. The Coach of the team, Morphiw0w, was previously a player for Axolotl and Mkers. This will be his first coaching experience. N1kL joins as the Analyst for Macko Esports. He was previously a Coach for VX300 Gaming. This is a solid roster on paper, and it'll be interesting to see how they do in the league.

4) Outplayed

The fourth team invited to VCL Italy is Outplayed. The Italian esports organization announced their roster on January 20th.

At the helm of this roster is Felox. The experienced Italian IGL has previously played for teams such as UCAM Tokiers, Dsyre, HEET Infernos, and Axolotl. Dudleyzor hails from Axolotl, nekoJ from Yutoru, Rias from Team Galaga, and Extreme hails from SPARX ESPORTS. The Coach of the roster, LuKKe, has previously been a player for Yutoru and 4Real. This will be his first-time coaching. Piotta joins as a Coach as well. This is a very good roster on paper, and they should do well in the league.

5) HMBLE

The fifth invited team to VCL Italy is HMBLE. The Italian esports organization announced their roster for the league on January 14th.

Italian player Braso hails from CyberGround Gaming. LooM and Lando both come from Yutoru Esports. Swedish player denzo has played for teams such as Macko Esports, SPARX ESPORTS, and Kommando Howl in the past. Rounding out the roster is Polish player KnightVoice, who hails from SPARX ESPORTS. Dolar, who is the Coach of the team, hails from Vx300 Gaming. This is a solid roster and it'll be interesting to see how they play against the other teams.

6) WLG

The sixth and final team invited to the Italian VCL is WLG. The Greek esports organization announced their re-entrance into Valorant and their roster for the league on January 15th.

At the helm of the roster is Turkish player m1tez. He has previously competed for Galakticos and Oxygen Esports. Greek player fanboy reunites with WLG, where he played for them in 2021. He has most recently played for Anorthosis Famagutsa Esports. Italian players Cookiee, Redwesty, and syyse round out the roster. Cookiee hails from 4Real, Redwesty from Macko Esports, and syyse from VX300 Gaming. The Head Coach of the roster, Istinto, hails from 4Real.

7) GMT Esports

The first team to qualify for VCL Italy through the open qualifiers is GMT Esports. They finalized their roster for the league on January 20th.

The remaining players from GMT's previous roster are marteen and AFoxx. The newcomers are Italian stars bipo, HeartBeat, and N A I S. Bipo hails from Angry Titans and played for Axolotl in the offseason, HearthBeat hails from Case Esports and played for Angry Titans in the past, and N A I S hails from Dsyre Elevate. Greek coach iLka remains the Head Coach for GMT and well known Italian Grigua joins the team as Assistant Coach. This is one of the strongest teams and they should be a real contender to win the league.

8) Axolotl

The final team in the league is Axolotl. The Italian esports organization picked up the roster called "Tomorrow will be better" after they secured a spot in VCL Italy through the qualifiers.

This is another strong roster. Russian players ALLIN and Tian both hail from Team Divinity. Italian players Morphiius and Fancazista both hail from VX300 Gaming, Limp hails from Yutoru, and substitute player SummonHalfa hails from 4Real. The Head Coach of this team, Anishared, hails from Team Divinity. This roster should be one of the top teams in the league with the talent they have.

When and how to watch

VCL Italy: Rinascimento Split 1 starts on January 21st and all the matches will be streamed here in Italian.
