Valorant players complain of performance issues

It seems that since the most recent update, a number of Valorant players are having problems with the game’s performance.

The Valorant closed beta got off to a great start. Crazy viewership on Twitch, pros from a range of other titles switching over and a bunch of awesome content came out of the first week of action. However, currently, not everyone is having such a good experience.

Following the latest patch, which nerfed Raze amongst other changes, many players are complaining of a sudden downgrade in performance. Lower FPS, packet loss and stuttering are just some of the symptoms on display, and some gamers are even saying that it feels “unplayable”.

Riot have made it clear that Valorant is being designed with performance as the number one priority, but some disgruntled Redditors are concerned that it may have taken a back seat in the last update. They agree that bug fixes and character balancing is very necessary, but just hope that in the future these changes don’t come at a cost to performance.

Whilst the frustration is understandable, it is important to remember that Valorant is still in closed beta. You would be foolish to expect everything to run completely smoothly, but it will certainly be interesting to see how the developers respond to these worries. Based on their excellent work so far, I don’t think these performance issues will be around for too much longer.
