Valorant Deadlock Agent Guide: Abilities, Class, and Location

A Sentinel that really wraps things up.

Valorant is an always-online game so Riot Games is constantly looking to update it with new content for players to enjoy. One addition that comes around every so often is a new Agent to choose before you start a match. There are more than 20 playable Agents in the game, one of which is Deadlock.

The newest Sentinel to the first-person shooter adds in quite a lot of never before seen features. First revealed during the 2023 Valorant Masters tournament, Deadlock can be challenging to understand with all of her unique abilities. If you're curious to know how to play her or what she's capable of, here's all you need to know.

What are Deadlock's Abilities in Valorant?

Deadlock wields various nano-wire tech that she uses to slow down, trap, and attack her opponents.

Deadlock's C ability is called Gravnet Grenade. When thrown at an enemy, an AOE appears around them that forces them to crouch and walk slowly. Once they exit the area of effect, they are free to move normally. This is a great tool to use when you're chasing an enemy or group of them and need to slow them down. It allows your teammates to focus fire on slower enemies or catch up to ones that are ahead of you.

Her Q ability is known as Sonic Sensor. Once activated, Deadlock will throw the devices onto a nearby surface and it will monitor the area for enemies who make noise. If it detects sound nearby, like footsteps, gunfire, or anything loud, it will go off, alerting you to the area. Walking will not set off the device as it is too quiet. A useful tool for alerting you or your squad to an enemy's location. You can leave it in a location while you explore the map and head back to it once it goes off.

Pressing E will activate Barrier Mesh. This device activates a nanotech wall in the form of an X. Players are unable to move through the walls as long as it remains active. However, you can fire bullets and projections through the forcefield or destroy it by firing directly at the device. This barrier is great for trapping enemies inside of it or cutting them off if they're running away.

Her Ultimate fires a pulsing thread of nanotechnology at enemies. A target caught in the thread becomes trapped inside and is pulled along a beam back to the location it was fired from. If a trapped Agent reaches the end of the thread, they are instantly killed.

Where is Valorant's Deadlock from in the world?

Every Agent in Valorant is from somewhere in the real world and Deadlock calls Norway her home.

What Class is Deadlock in Valorant?

Deadlock is a Sentinel in Valorant and one of five in the game. She joins the remaining four or Chamber, Cypher, Killjoy, and Sage. As a Sentinel, Deadlock is meant to focus on defending areas and other players from attacks. Sentinels are the support class of Valorant and come equipped with abilities that pin down, halter, or alert teammates to enemy locations. They're designed to prevent the enemy team from gaining the upper hand by flanking and getting around the map without being seen.
