One Agent Remains Unpicked in VALORANT Champions 2023

So far in VALORANT Champions, one agent remains unpicked, and fans are asking whether this agent is even liable to use in competitive queues.

Deadlock was the newest addition to VALORANT agent squad, and she is a Sentinel. Sentinels are picked for their abilities to control space and hold down sites. However, Deadlock's abilities have not been seen as valuable as the other Sentinels abilities to warrant a pick.

Up until Paper Rex vs FUT Esports in the Upper Bracket Quarterfinals, two agents were unpicked: Reyna and Deadlock. But Paper Rex's star Something brought Reyna to Ascent against FUT Esports, leaving Deadlock the singular unpicked agent in the tournament, so far. The current state of VALORANT meta won't allow Deadlock to be picked, unless some team went for a troll pick (looking at Paper Rex). In addition, Deadlock's abilities have been criticized and questioned, because her abilities are an inferior version of Cypher's and Killjoy's, and her ultimate is useless for the most part.

VALORANT meta is in a stale state, with compositions being predictable, and nothing surprising coming out in the biggest tournaments. Agents like Yoru, Sage, Phoenix, Deadlock and Reyna all see less than 1% pick rate in major tournaments. And although agent picks are down to more than just the meta, sometimes preference as well, it does warrant Riot Games to look at the state of agents like Deadlock and consider a possible rework to make her on par with the other Sentinels.
