Andbox will use AI to complete new Valorant roster

With three spots left to fill, they will be using a unique method to discover the top talent.

New York based esports organization, Andbox, have announced their move into Valorant with the signing of two players and two coaches.

The company already owns successful franchises in Call of Duty and Overwatch with the New York Subliners and New York Excelsior respectively. This latest venture into Valorant will be the first time that they compete using the “Andbox” name.

So far, the new roster consists of former Counter-Strike pros Bradley “ANDROID” Fodor and Jaccob “yay” Whiteaker. Joining them are two more CS:GO vets, coach Matt “Warden” Dickens and assistant coach Gordan “g0g1” Prošic.

With three spots left to fill, they will be using a unique method to discover the top talent. Andbox stated, “Dickens and Prošic will assemble the rest of the roster with the support of Aim Lab, a talent assessment software developed by neuroscientists at Statespace. Aim Lab uses AI and analytics to measure a player’s performance based on fundamental motor and cognitive skills”.

Even more excitingly, the custom program that the coaches will be using to build out the team will be made available to the public later in September. This means that anyone can try out for a chance to join the Andbox squad.

Of course, as well as raw mechanical skill, things like player chemistry and the ability to perform under pressure are also important factors in a team’s success. It will certainly be interesting to see how a roster assembled with the help of AI fares in the competitive Valorant scene.
