100 Thieves enter Valorant with signing of Hiko

Ex CS:GO star Hiko has joined 100 Thieves as the first member of their competitive Valorant roster.

100 Thieves founder and CEO Matthew “Nadeshot” Haag has announced that his organisation is officially moving into Valorant. In a video addressing fans, Nadeshot explained that they would be forming a professional team, with the core aim of winning championships.

As a relatively new esports org, 100 Thieves have already found an incredible amount of success in titles such as League of Legends, Counter-Strike and Fortnite. At the same time, they have grown rapidly as a brand, thanks to both their dedicated line-up of content creators as well as their popular limited time apparel drops.

The first signing and captain of the 100 Thieves Valorant squad is Spencer “Hiko” Martin. Hiko has been competing at the highest level in CS:GO for nearly a decade, taking part in a total of 8 majors.

Nadeshot cited Hiko’s vast FPS experience as the main reason behind his selection, saying, “We believe Hiko already has such a huge head start on a lot of the competition…he’s competed in Grand Finals, he’s competed in front of hundreds of thousands of people”.

Hiko explained that whilst mechanically, Riot’s new shooter feels quite similar to CS, the addition of Agents and special abilities makes it very enjoyable. He added that his goals for Valorant aligned almost perfectly with those of 100 Thieves, stating “I want to win, I will do whatever it takes to win”.

Having seen 100 Thieves’ previous accomplishments in esports, and knowing that they are not short on funding, it will be exciting to see how they build out this roster. With Hiko at the helm, it certainly seems like they are well set up to bring home some trophies.
