Season 03 Leak Reveals New Maps and Weapons Coming to Modern Warfare and Warzone

Following the release of the latest game update, proven-reliable dataminer /u/Senescallo has begun to dig into the files included in the PC build of the game for a look at what's to come in the future content for Modern Warfare and Warzone. Unsurprisingly, a lot of significant content has been discovered just a few hours after the update released. Included amongst the datamined information are new weapons, maps, playlists, and more!

Maps

Backlot

The first of the leaked maps returns from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered). Backlot is an iconic map from the original Modern Warfare, set in an urban desert town that primarily offers short-medium range combat with certain areas allowing for long-range engagements.

Village

The other map included in this leak returns from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. Whether you liked it or not, every Modern Warfare 3 player remembers Village - a large map set in an African Sierra Leone jungle village.

Weapons

SKS

A new Semi-Automatic Sniper Rifle appears to be included in the Modern Warfare Season 03 content if leaks are to be believed. Unfortunately, there are no images for either of the leaked weapons, but we do have detailed descriptions that give us a solid understanding of the weapons.

Lightweight semi auto Carbine chambered in 7.62x39mm. This hard hitting and agile Soviet rifle focuses on utility over accuracy. It flaunts a faster fire rate than other weapons in its class, but a carefully placed round will eliminate the need for follow up shots entirely. This classic DMR has seen a lot of battles, and its unique gunsmith configurations reflect a diverse service history.

Renetti

Alongside the SKS Sniper Rifle, a new Pistol has been found in the files; Finally, the iconic 1911 comes to Modern Warfare! It should be noted that each of these weapons should be available in Warzone via Loadout Drops, if not also in floor loot and caches.

Well rounded semi-auto 9mm pistol. This unassuming sidearm excels in close range combat, and features gunsmithing capabilities unique to the pistol class that permit a variety of engagement strategies.

Operators

Two new Operators have been discovered in the files of the latest update - Alex and Ronin. Unfortunately there aren't any further details on these Operators, though it's safe to assume that Alex is the character from the Modern Warfare Campaign.

Similar to Fortnite, Infinity Ward seems to be taking a page out of Epic Games' book and allowing players to support their favorite content creator when making purchases from the in-game store.
