New Weapon Customization Coming to Modern Warfare

After months of teasing the community, Infinity Ward Art Director Joel Emslie has nonchalantly announced that two significant updates to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's weapon customization systems will be releasing in the near future. Alongside a new Master camouflage for all weapons, a new feature referred to as Gunsmith Customs is expected to release on or around the halfway point of Season 3.

Master Camo

Since Call of Duty: Modern Warfare released in October of 2019, players have grinded the Multiplayer mode to unlock the game's biggest achievement - Damascus Camo. This Camo is unlocked upon unlocking all other Camos, including Gold and Platinum, on all Weapons. Despite weeks of playtime required to complete this Challenge, many players feel that Damascus is rather lackluster for a Master Camo.

Joel Emslie and Joe Cecot, Infinity Ward Art Director and Co-Design Director, respectively, have heard this feedback in recent months and began work on a new Master Camo. Little details have been revealed regarding this Camo, and at the time of writing, we don't even know what it looks like. However, it is currently expected to release within the mid Season update for Modern Warfare's third content Season.

Joe Cecot states that the Camo will NOT require Damascus, the current Master Camo, to be unlocked; Rather, players will first need to unlock the Gold Camo for the Weapon which they desire the new Camo to be on. Given this information, players are concerned that there may not be much of a grind to unlock the supposed ultimate Camo in the game - but we'll just have to wait and see!

Gunsmith Customs

A new customization mechanic, nicknamed Frankensmithing, is also expected to release in the mid Season update for Modern Warfare's third Season. This feature will allow players to mix and match various parts of Weapon Blueprints, opening limitless stylistic options for your favorite Weapons.

This has been a highly requested change from many players, so it's sure to please those looking to further their creativity in Modern Warfare and Warzone. Paired with the new Master Camo, we're excited to see what players are able to create!
