Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Free Multiplayer Access Weekend Begins April 3rd

In a rather unexpected announcement from Activision, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's Multiplayer mode will be free to play for all players from Friday, April 3rd to Monday, April 6th! This is a welcomed first for the series that's clearly intended to entice the free-to-play Warzone players to purchase the full Modern Warfare title.

It should be noted that free-to-play players will be limited to the 'Stocked Up, Locked Down' playlist, which is expected to be a moshpit playlist featuring the Shoot House and Atlas Superstore maps played across various game modes.

Activision has yet to provide details whether or not free-to-play Warzone players will require an additional download to their current installation to participate in the Multiplayer Free Access Weekend. This is likely due to the fact that the install sizes of the standalone Warzone client and the entirety of Modern Warfare vary.

In the midst of a cheating plague in Warzone, it'll be interesting to see how Multiplayer players perceive the Free Access Weekend. With the mode becoming free-to-play for a limited time, it's very likely that we'll see an increase in the amount of cheaters in Multiplayer lobbies - thankfully, limited to the free playlist.
