How to Activate the Pied Piper Easter Egg on Cheshire Park in Modern Warfare

Best believe somebody's payin' the Pied Piper. Here's a guide to the latest Easter Egg in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.

Within the Season 4: Reloaded update for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone, players can experience an all-new Multiplayer map named Cheshire Park! This map is filled to the brim with storyline-related content, as well as a fun Easter Egg for those willing to activate it.

Soon after Cheshire Park went live in-game, players began to notice mouse traps around the map which - when shot - would disappear with a special effect. It was apparent that a new Easter Egg hunt was underway, just as it was for the recently-released Trench map.

Pied Piper

To awaken the Pied Piper and rid Cheshire Park of its rat infestation, you must locate and shoot a total of five (5) mouse traps which can be found in various locations around the map. Unlike the previous Easter Eggs, however, there are over forty (40) spawn locations for the mouse traps; Because of this, we cannot provide you with a complete map of locations at this time.

Pied Piper - Mouse Trap Locations

Upon shooting the fifth and final mouse trap, a slice of cheese will spawn in its place, interact with it to pick it up. Now, locate and interact with a cheese wheel which can be found around the map - there are eight (8) different spawn locations.

Pied Piper - Cheese Wheel Locations

Once you have picked up the cheese wheel, locate the Pied Piper statue in the center of the map and place the offering. Upon doing so, the Pied Piper will play his flute and rid Cheshire Park of its rat infestation in a colorful manner!

Meaning

The Pied Piper of Hamelin is the titular character of a legend from the town of Hamelin, Lower Saxony, Germany. The legend dates back to the Middle Ages, the earliest references describing a piper, dressed in multi-colored clothing, who was a rat-catcher hired by the town to lure rats away with his magic pipe.

Despite The Piper's success, the mayor reneged on his promise and refused to pay him the full sum, even going so far as to blame The Piper for bringing the rats himself in an extortion attempt. Enraged, The Piper stormed out of the town, vowing to return later to take revenge. On Saint John and Paul's day, while the adults were in church, The Piper returned dressed in green like a hunter and playing his pipe. In so doing, he attracted the town's children. One hundred thirty children followed him out of town and into a cave and were never seen again.

In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's take on this tale, the Pied Piper is paid in-full with cheese prior to doing his deed, thus resulting in a happier outcome.
