Competitive players have generally been in good standing with Epic in regards to splitting up the casual and competitive loot pools. The stark contrast between chapter 1 and 2 is very much appreciated by the playerbase

Once in a while, certain utilities and weapons will slip into the tournaments and lead to inevitable bugs. There’s one particularly *invasive* bug associated with the wearable Parasite occurring in Fortnite right now

Reddit users are reporting this error in mass:

Is the alien too op? it blocked a 140+ pump and 2 p90 headshots. from FortniteCompetitive

Taking a deeper look at this issue, it seems that structure damage might be the culprit. Regardless, it’s definitely offering a makeshift helmet against close range encounters

A more in depth explanation of the bug is shown below; it seems that damage randomly gets through between zero and full capacity

PSA: Parasites are bugged in v17.30 with Shotguns - sometimes they take full damage, usually half damage, and rarely no damage (video evidence) from FortniteCompetitive

The parasite also comes with a slew of passive player benefits. You’ll be faster, jump taller, and dodge hefty headshot damage. All at the cost of (up to) 40 white HP
