Fortnite v19.20 patch: New Covert Cavern POI & Mythic Boss, Heavy Shotgun unvaulted

Fans are already loving the latest additions to the Fortnite Chapter 3 Island!

In the last few weeks, we’ve seen tornados and lightning added to Fortnite, the return of Tilted Towers, and a tasty new healing item. With another month and a half still remaining in Chapter 3 Season 1, Epic is keeping the content coming thick and fast.

Todays v19.20 update features a highly anticipated location, new weapons and a bunch of fresh cosmetics. Let’s dive in:

Covert Cavern & Mythic

Previously leaked as The Grotto 2.0, Covert Cavern is a high-tech IO base found inside the mountains north of Camp Cuddle. Inside the facility there is a permanent Launch Pad, ample materials, and a whole lot of loot.

Guarding the POI is an IO Brute named Gunnar. Take down this menacing boss to win his Mythic Stinger SMG.

Gunnar will also drop a Vault Keycard. Four Supply Drop crates, four IO Chests, four Safes, six Ammo Boxes and two Large Ammos Boxes spawn inside the Covert Cavern Vault every match.

SMG & MK-Seven Nerf

Speaking of the SMG, Stinger damage has been reduced across the board, as has MK-Seven damage:

Stinger SMG

• Common: Reduced from 18 to 16

• Uncommon: Reduced from 19 to 17

• Rare: Reduced from 20 to 18

• Epic: Reduced from 21 to 19

• Legendary: Reduced from 22 to 20

• Mythic: Reduced from 24 to 22

MK-Seven

• Common: Reduced from 21 to 20

• Uncommon: Reduced from 22 to 21

• Rare: Reduced from 23 to 22

• Epic: Reduced from 24 to 23

• Legendary: Reduced from 25 to 24

• Mythic: Reduced from 26 to 25

Heavy Shotgun

Elsewhere on the weapon front, the Heavy Shotgun has been unvaulted, but with some significant changes:

It now fires a single pellet, so you’ll need to be extra accurate. However, this means that if you do hit your shots, they will hit hard consistently. First impressions suggest that it is extremely powerful at long range.

The Heavy Shotgun is available in Chests and Supply Drops, as well as floor loot and sharks.

Competitive

As confirmed last week, the Spider-Man Web-Shooters Mythic will now be limited to 20 uses rather than 80 in competitive playlists only.

The Mythic Stinger SMG will not be present in Arena and tournament game modes but the Heavy Shotgun will be available straight away. Epic say this is because the Shotgun was adjusted with “higher-skill play in mind”.

Cosmetics

Starting now, you can collect feathers from Chests and complete special Quests to unlock a series of special masks for the Haven Battle Pass Outfit. Head over to the “Haven’s Masks” section in the Battle Pass menu to learn more.
