As we move into the final week of Fortnite Chapter 3’s debut season, many fans are turning their thoughts towards Season 2, and what changes they’re hoping for. With the current meta being so divisive, it will be interesting to see which direction Epic takes.
Theme-wise, leaks have suggested a war between the Imagined Order and The Seven to be central to the storyline. This could well have a significant impact on the loot pool and technology available in-game.
Here are some of the things that I think could make C3:S2 a great season:
Weapons & Items
Guns have been by far the most controversial topic these past few months. A lot of people love the powerful Stinger SMG, and the ability to quickly eliminate enemies without needing to be amazing at building or editing has brought loads of former players back to Fortnite.
However, there is no question that this spray-heavy gameplay is a nightmare in competitive. The clear solution going forward is to split loot pools more drastically, perhaps removing or majorly nerfing certain core weapons like the Stinger from Arena and tournaments.

So, let’s talk Shotguns. With Epic having added two brand-new Shotguns (or three counting the reworked Heavy) this season, I think next season will probably be a combination of existing Shotguns rather than anything new.
Personally, I’d be very happy to get the Pump back, even without the purple and gold variants. It’s definitely still possible to have a good Shotgun meta without it though.
It would be nice to see a viable version of the Tac shotty return, maybe alongside the Charge Shotgun and either the original Pump or Striker Pump.
The MK-Seven is fun to use, but its red dot sight makes it way stronger than the Ranger Assault Rifle right now. It would make sense to have attachments work with all guns in a category, so that they become equally useful.
Thanks to dataminers, we already know that the Thermal Assault Rifle and LMG are going to be unvaulted next season. The standard AR and Scar are also on my Wishlist to accompany them.

When it comes to utility, I’d love to see the Shield Bubble come back, or a new tactical item. Tech that doesn’t deal damage, but can be game-changing if used in the right situation is awesome!
I think Epic did a fantastic job with heals this season. There’s finally a good amount of Shield available, and the new introductions like Med-Mist and Shield Kegs allow you to regen without having to stop fighting completely.
Map Changes
Though they can never normally agree on anything, the Chapter 3 map has been a hit with both casual and competitive Fortnite players. Whether you prefer to get straight into the action, or a more lowkey drop, there’s plenty of places to land.
The different biomes give off that old school Chapter 1 vibe, and spots like Tilted Towers and Covert Cavern appearing later on kept things feeling fresh. The key now is not to slow down.
Starting Season 2 with at least three substantial changes would be massive. I’m talking completely new POIs and Neo Tilted level reworks.
It’s likely that the Daily Bugle will disappear as that was part of the Spider-Man collab. This leaves a big space for something original.
It would be cool to have more powerful locations on the edge of the map, similar to The Shark in C2:S2, to help spread people out. Plus, utilizing verticality, potentially with IO bases in the sky, could bring more depth.
Vehicles & Mobility
In Chapter 3 Season 1, mobility has been dominated by Spider-Man’s Mythic Web-Shooters. There’s no other way to get around the map as freely, as speedily, and as stealthily.
To the relief of some and the devastation of others, the Web-Shooters will almost certainly follow the Daily Bugle into the Fortnite vault. So, what’s next?
Epic are working on more vehicle mods again 👀

Today they added a new mod that (from my understanding) attaches to the body of the vehicle (probably armor?). And also we know that we're getting a turret vehicle next season, that could be a mod too (been leaked since C2S5)
As with the tactical utility mentioned earlier, it seems as though there is still plenty of room for innovation when it comes to movement items. Whether it be new traps, some sort of portal, or a cannon to launch your teammates, in public game modes there’s no harm getting super creative.
For competitive, Bouncers would be a solid addition. It may also be time to remove Launch Pads and introduce a slightly reworked version of the Impulse Grenade.
In terms of vehicles, leaks have predicted a new driveable IO drill. If done properly, this could see vehicles have a greater impact on Fortnite gameplay, which I’m all for…as long as they’re not crazy overpowered!
Additionally, @ShiinaBR has guessed that the Choppa could soon be back on the Island. This is because a helicopter with an updated design was shown in the recent Naomi Osaka skin trailer, and the Choppa itself was adjusted in December.
Exciting times are ahead for sure, let’s all keep our fingers crossed for a season that everyone can enjoy!
