Fortnite's new update is coming in hot, and it's packed to the brim with new features that will do more than enough to keep players engaged.
Fortnite is moving at breakneck speed right now, and we’re barely sure we can keep up. Fortnite Chapter 6 and its whopping Battle Pass have made their debut, and though the map is full of secrets and jammed with things to do, many players are opting instead to beeline for Fortnite OG Season 1, which has finally arrived as a permanent mode and salve for nostalgia. That would be more than enough to see us through until the next season, but more is yet to come, with a rebrand for Lego Fortnite’s core mode to Lego Fortnite Odyssey, and the reveal of two new modes entirely – the Ballistic 5v5 strategy shooter, taking place in first-person for the first time in Fortnite’s history, and the arrival of Brick Life, a GTA-like life simulator featuring Lego versions of your favourite skins.

Fortnite Text Chat
There are three ways to text chat in Fortnite – in a Party Channel, Game Channel or in a Direct Message. Here’s how it works:
- Party Channel: When you join a party, you will automatically be connected to a Party Channel and can chat with all of your party members across any Fortnite island you’re playing. Party Channel chat persists for as long as you're in Fortnite and in that party.
- Game Channel: When you join an island that supports Game Channel text chat, you're in a public conversation with other players who are on the same instance of the island, regardless of their location on the island. Game Channel chat persists for as long as you're on the island. It will be up to creators to decide whether they support Game Channels in their islands, and whether the channel includes all players on the island or just teams.
Direct Messages (DMs): You can send one-on-one messages to other players on your friends list. To DM friends, you can hit the "+" button when text chat is open, or you can click the ‘DM’ button from your friend’s profile. Direct Messages persist for as long as you're in Fortnite. Note: you can only send or receive DMs from players on your Fortnite or platform friends list who are online.
