Riot Games Expands VCT to China in 2024

Unveiling China: Fourth Official League!

The VALORANT Champions Tour (VCT) is excited to share its vision for the 2024 season, which will mark its fourth year of running the premier esports tournament for VALORANT. The new season will bring a host of improvements and innovations that will enhance the competitive experience for players, teams, and fans. Here is an overview of the key highlights:

Unveiling China: Fourth Official League

China will become the fourth official league in VCT, joining the Americas, EMEA, and Pacific regions. This will create more competitive opportunities and showcase the Chinese community’s talent and impact. VALORANT aims to be the most global esport in the world, and this is a significant step towards that goal.

The second Masters event of the season will also take place in Shanghai, where twelve teams will compete for points and a spot in the Champions tournament.

2024 VCT Calendar

A New Start to the Season Kickoff

The season begins with a two-week tournament in each International League, which will select 8 teams for the first global event - Masters Madrid. This will be the first global VCT in Spain, and it will determine the best team of the year.

Challengers: The Path to Pro Continues

Challengers, the platform for aspiring esports champions, will undergo further development in the next year. To maintain the momentum, the Challengers schedule will offer more opportunities for year-round participation in tier 2 tournaments.

Challengers will also implement a novel system of team affiliation and player loan, facilitating greater mobility of players across International Leagues, Challengers, and Game Changers. Moreover, the new Premier mode will serve as the cornerstone of VALORANT’s path to pro, enabling players to access the VCT directly from the game.

Unprecedented Growth and the Ascension of New Teams

The 2024 season will elevate the sport to a new level by hosting a record number of top-notch teams in the highest tier of competition. As the Ascensions event wraps up, three victorious teams rise from the fierce battles of Challengers, gaining the honor of joining the International Leagues for the 2024 season. The Guard, Gentle Mates, and Bleed Esports, prevailed through a year of intense challenges, earning a two-year spot in the international leagues.

Embracing Change: Championship Points

The next year will bring in a flexible season structure with the launch of Champions Points. These points will enhance the climax of the season, connecting International Leagues and Global Tournaments, acting as an indicator of each teams’ achievements and the criteria for global events.
