KRU Esports Pull Off Incredible Run to Qualify for VCT Champions 2023

The LATAM team qualifies for Champions

KRU Esports have done the impossible and pulled off an incredible run in the Americas LCQ to qualify for VCT Champions 2023.

The Argentinean esports organization came into the LCQ being the only team not to win a game during the Regular Season. This made their chances to win incredibly slim because teams like Cloud9, Leviatan, and FURIA, who all made Playoffs, were also competing in the LCQ for a spot at Champions.

KRU's first matchup in the LCQ came against Brazilian team MIBR. They didn't have much trouble in this series, comfortably winning the first map 13-7 and the second map 13-8. KRU's duelist player keznit had an extremely good performance, averaging an ACS of 263 and a KDA of 35-27-16 through both maps. With the win, KRU Esports now advanced to the Upper Quarterfinals, where they would be playing FURIA. This was certainly an exciting matchup, as the first map went into overtime. FURIA were the ones to close the game out, winning 14-12. However, KRU Esports then won the next two maps to win the series. With the reverse sweep over FURIA, KRU now advanced to the Upper Semifinals.

The Upper Semifinals matchup was against fellow LATAM team Leviatan. KRU looked incredible in this series, winning map one 13-5 and map two 13-7. Leading KRU was none other than their star duelist player keznit, who had an insane ACS of 337 and a KDA of 44-24-10 through both maps. With the win, KRU now advanced to the Upper Finals where they would be playing against Cloud9. The opposing North American team got on the board first, winning the first map 13-4. However, KRU Esports bounced back well and won the next two maps to win the matchup. They now advanced to the Grand Finals and were only two maps away from qualifying to Champions.

The Grand Finals matchup was against Leviatan, who qualified from the Lower Bracket. Both LATAM teams faced off against each other in the Upper Semifinals, where KRU won 2-0. KRU again looked like the much better team and won the series 3-1. With the win, they now advanced to VCT Champions 2023 in August even though they didn't win a single matchup during the Regular Season of the VCT Americas League. Incredible performance from KRU Esports in the LCQ.
