Former shoutcaster HenryG joins Cloud 9 as General Manager

... and here's why that's a big deal

Cloud 9 scooped up some new talent to assist their soon expected roster rebuilding efforts through assigning Henry "HenryG" Greer to the General Manager role for the Counter-Strike roster

The move comes shortly after Greer announced abrupt retirement from his multi-year bout in the esteemed analyst and commentator role. Greer cited frustrations within the entertainment community which ultimately fueled the decision to leave all together

"Once you do get hired, they will be very quick to remind you that your colleagues have quoted a lower price and they’ll have to get back to you. Leaving you confused and worried about the prospect of work. Of course, you will have to bend the knee. Just to be safe. The next step is Stockholm syndrome and you will find yourself accepting any and all work [note the aforementioned 150+ events] just to keep yourself relevant. Constantly bending over backwards and operating way above your paycheck just to keep up appearances with your multiple employers," HenryG noted in an interview with DBLTAP

But HenryG had an ace up his sleeve as it didn't take long for him to resurface within the Esports community... albeit from a more biased stance now

The support team around Cloud 9's restructuring efforts is making progress much quicker than anticipated. In the same thread, Aleksandar "kassad" Trifunovic was named Head Coach of the currently empty roster

Kassad had his own two year stint as a professional Counter-Strike player up until 2015, after which he leaned into the coaching role and didn't look back. His most recent achievement was when he guided 100Thieves to a 2nd place finish in the Intel Extreme Masters XIV Beijing - good for $50,000

The Bottom Line

Moving forward, HenryG is expected to have full control over the new roster. "C9 have entrusted me with their entire CS:GO dynasty and, honestly, I think that's one of the boldest moves any org has made in a long time," he told Dexerto in an interview

On the same wavelength, HenryG also emphasized that Kassad will play a key role in guiding the newly appointed General Manager towards the best roster possible

After burning through 4 rosters in the past two and a half years, maybe the 5th time is the charm for Cloud 9?
