Call of Duty Warzone 2.0 Introduces Ranked Play

Join the pros and prepare for battle.

A competitive ranked game mode for Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 is coming on May 10. It's the first-ever ranked division for the game and will allow players to gain unique rewards, work on their ranking level, and bring a new competitive scene to the battle royale game. Here's what you can expect to find in the Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 Ranked Play.

Ranked Play Rules and Guidelines

Like similar ranked playlists in previous games such as Modern Warfare 2, Warzone 2.0's ranked type will introduce many new features for players. Players who are looking to make a name for themselves and compete for the World Series of Warzone title should take advantage of the opportunity.

The first thing players should be aware of is that they must be level 45 to be part of Ranked Play. Players can expect to play on the map Al Mazrah in a trios party. They will be restricted on firesales, heavy choppers, and multi-circles. Plus, changes to redeploy mechanics will be implemented, and changes to inventory. Plus, they don't want people to throw rocks in the Gulag, so that's turned off.

Skill Divisions

There will be seven Skill Divisions during the ranked season. All players will begin at Bronze I at the start of Season 03 Reloaded. Players are able to earn a Skill Rating (SR) during matches and earn them by performing the following tasks:

  • Placement (e.g., 1st, 2nd, 20th)
  • Kills
  • Assists
  • Kills by your squad.

SR earned for Kills, Assists and Squad Kills is increased based on the number of squads remaining:

  • 21+ Squads Remaining: +5 SR per Elimination/Assist, +2 SR per Squadmate Elimination
  • 3–20 Squads Remaining: +7 SR per Elimination/Assist, +3 SR per Squadmate Elimination
  • 1–3 Squads Remaining: +15 SR per Elimination/Assist, +7 SR per Squadmate Elimination

A deployment Fee will be deducted from each player’s SR total at the start of each match. The higher the player’s Skill Division and Tier, the higher the Deployment Fee.

  • Bronze I–III: No Deployment Fee
  • Silver I: –10 SR
  • Silver II: –14 SR
  • Silver III: –18 SR
  • Gold I: –23 SR
  • Gold II: –28 SR
  • Gold III: –33 SR
  • Platinum I: –39 SR
  • Platinum II: –45 SR
  • Platinum III: –51 SR
  • Diamond I: –58 SR
  • Diamond II: –65 SR
  • Diamond III: –72 SR
  • Crimson I: –80 SR
  • Crimson II: –90 SR
  • Crimson III: –100 SR
  • Iridescent and Top 250: –110 SR + 10 SR every 500 SR above 10,000 up to a max Deployment Fee of –210 SR

At the end of a Season, player's Tier level will reset to one Division below where they ended the season. As an example, a player at Gold III at the end of Season 3 will start Season 04 at Silver I.

That being said, the highest Division players can start a new Season is Diamond I, so players who earn enough to reach Crimson, Iridescent, or Top 250 will be brought down to Diamond I at the start of a new season.

Ranked Demotions, Skill Rating Forgiveness, and Quitting

The Ranked mode works similarly to the ranked match type in Modern Warfare II. That includes how and when a game begins, if players quit during a match, and whether or not players lose SR when this happens.

Ranked Play matches will not begin if teams are uneven. So, for instance, if a player were to disconnect or quit before a match begins, all other players will be sent back to the lobby and the match will not count for it never took place.

Skill Rating Forgiveness is in Warzone 2.0 Ranked Play as well. This involves a player disconnecting or quitting in the middle of the match. If this happens, all team members outside of that player’s party will not lose SR. However, SR can still be earned if the team does end up winning the match while losing won’t deduct any SR.

Demotion Protection returns for the Ranked Play as well. This ensures players avoid immediate relegation after gaining a new Skill Division. After advancing to a higher level, players will not lose any SR within the first three games in the new Division. However, if players do lose enough SR to risk relegation, players must lose two matches in a row to have their Skill Division reduced. This takes place during the first three matches of every Season.

Players who quit, disconnect, idle, or kill their teammates over and over again, can incur punishments. Players who repeat poor behavior will get more severe punishments.

Ranked Rewards

Now for the part players will care about the most: rewards. Players will gain ranks as they compete in Ranked Play and the top players of each match will earn stars that increase their overall rank.

  • Top 25: 1 Star
  • Top 10: 2 Stars
  • 1st Place: 3 Stars

Players can find numerous rewards that include a Vehicle Skin at Rank 5, a Ranked Play Win Tracker Gunscreen at Rank 30, and a Ranked Veteran Operator Skin at Rank 50.

On top of those rewards, players can also gain new ones each season they compete. These rewards are earned by Placement and Eliminations per match.

Other rewards include emblems, charms, and Camo to use on weapons.
