Overwatch 2 Lifeweaver Hero: Release Date, Abilities, Gameplay Trailer & More

A new support hero has been revealed.

Overwatch 2's upcoming Season 4 will introduce Lifeweaver as the new support hero, as per Blizzard Entertainment's announcement. The official Overwatch Twitter account shared a picture on April 3rd, confirming the arrival of Lifeweaver in Season 4. The post featured a caption that read, "Lifeweaver is about to bloom," accompanied by an image of the hero, which definitely looks visually impressive.

The best part is Lifeweaver will be free to use for a limited time. So if you're excited to get your hands on this new support character, you can do it right away once it launches globally. With that said, here's everything you need to know about Overwatch 2's Lifeweaver hero, including his release date and abilities.

Overwatch 2 Lifeweaver Release Date

Lifeweaver will release on April 11, 2023, with the launch of the Overwatch 2 Season 4 update.

Starting April 11th, you can play as Lifeweaver for a limited period without unlocking him. In fact, Blizzard will also introduce an in-game event to celebrate his addition to the roster until April 24th.

Along with the celebration of the Thai New Year, the event will introduce an arcade mode named B.O.B. and Weave, which only allows players to choose Lifeweaver. By participating in the event, you can earn Lifeweaver's Cassia skin, inspired by Thailand's national flower, the Ratchaphruek.

As always, the game developers will take the servers offline prior to the update's launch, meaning players won't be able to play Overwatch 2 during this time frame.

Once the update goes live, we assume that players can unlock the Lifeweaver character by reaching a certain tier in the battle pass.

Lifeweaver Abilities Overview

An article about the new support hero's abilities was posted on PCGamesN, but the publication later removed it. Nevertheless, Reddit users have already started sharing what the original article had revealed. As per the article, Lifeweaver boasts the following abilities:

  • Petal Platform - His Petal Platform ability generates a pressure-sensitive platform that ascends when stepped on by heroes on both teams, while his Life Grip ability shields a targeted ally and pulls them to his position.
  • Rejuvenating Dash - His Rejuvenating Dash also provides a small burst of passive healing to keep you alive while falling back or repositioning.
  • Parting Gift (Passive ability) - As for Lifeweaver’s passive ability, Parting Gift triggers upon death and causes him to drop a healing item that can be picked up by heroes on both teams.
  • Tree of Life (Ultimate) - It heals allies within its perimeter for as long as it remains active and can be placed anywhere on the map to disrupt sightlines and block chokepoints.

Additionally, Lifeweaver has an alternate primary fire called Thorn Valley, which enables him to damage incoming targets. Overall, he seems to be an important asset as a support hero for coordinated teams.

So there you have it. That's everything you need to know about Overwatch 2's Lifeweaver hero.
