What's new in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4?

Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4 is live with Marvel heroes, villains, and iconic locations! Explore new weapons, map changes, and the latest Battle Pass with fan favorites and new medallions.

Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4 has officially launched, and it's bringing Marvel heroes, villains, and iconic locations straight from the comics back into the spotlight. Much like 2020's Marvel-themed season, this season is filled with exciting new map areas inspired by Marvel lore and a Battle Pass dedicated entirely to some of the Marvel universe's most beloved characters. If you're a comic book fan, this season could be a real treat - especially if it lives up to the excitement of the previous Marvel season, which was one of the most popular in the game's history.

In this guide, we'll give you a complete rundown of everything that's new in this season. Join us as we explore the latest Fortnite weapons, map updates, Battle Pass deals, and everything else Chapter 5 Season 4: Absolute Doom has to offer.

Fortnite battle pass in Chapter 5 Season 4

For many players, the excitement of unlocking every item in the battle pass rivals the thrill of the game itself. Fortnite's latest Battle Pass is no exception, featuring an array of heroes and villains making their in-game debut, including fan favorites like Emma Frost, Shuri, and War Machine. Additionally, the creative Epic-Marvel mash-ups continue, with the standout Peelverine-a clever mix of Wolverine and Fortnite's iconic banana character, Peely-already gaining iconic status.

Let's dive into the skins available in this season's Battle Pass. As usual, the pass includes eight characters: one unlocked immediately upon purchase, another that will be available later in the season, and six more that you can earn as you progress through the levels.

For those who love the grind beyond level 100, there are additional bonus styles and cosmetics to unlock by completing weekly quests, ensuring a steady flow of rewards throughout the season - even if you're the type of player who tends to buy all the unlocks on day one.

This season's roster, shown from left to right in the image above, includes

  • Captain Jones
  • War Machine
  • Shuri
  • Gwenpool
  • Peelverine
  • Mysterio
  • Emma Frost
  • And in the background, Doctor Doom

Gwenpool is the first skin you'll unlock when you purchase the pass, while Doctor Doom will be the mid-season unlock. Below you can explore each item featured in the Battle Pass individually.

Fortnite New weapons in Chapter 5 Season 4

This season's loot pool is getting a significant makeover, with more new weapons than we've seen in many seasons. A big reason for this is the influx of items straight from the Marvel Universe, such as Captain America's iconic shield, which doubles as a formidable frisbee-like weapon in skilled hands.

To kick things off, here's a rundown of the new and returning weapons you'll encounter when Chapter 5 Season 4: Absolute Doom launches.

Fortnite map changes in Chapter 5 Season 4

A new season in Fortnite means a new update to the island, and this time around, those changes bring iconic Marvel locations into the spotlight. One of the standout additions is The Raft, a notorious supermax prison designed to hold the universe's most dangerous villains.

This season, Epic has continued its trend of overhauling specific regions of the map rather than scattering changes randomly. As a result, the Northwest Quadrant has seen the most significant changes, with three brand-new named locations.

Interestingly, some older areas such as the Nitrodrome remain, albeit with noticeable changes. These changes suggest that the original bosses have vacated these locations, likely to serve the evolving storyline and make room for the new bosses that will take center stage this season.

New Points of Interest (POIs) this season:

  • The Raft: Replaces Pleasant Plaza, which has been a staple for several seasons.
  • Doomstadt: Replaces Lavish Lair, which debuted at the beginning of this chapter last December.
  • Castle Doom: Occupying the former location of Classy Courts (I will definitely miss the music there).

Changes to Fortnite Reload

For players who have transitioned to Fortnite's Reload mode, either part-time or full-time, there's good news - this sweaty mode is also getting some new features this season. However, Epic has yet to reveal exactly what those features will be.

These upcoming changes don't seem to be related to the rumors of Fortnite OG making a comeback later this year, possibly with a focus on Fortnite Chapter 2. It seems that Reload will remain its own standalone mode, with the nostalgic OG event running separately. Of course, we'll have to wait for official details to confirm or debunk these speculations.

New Medallions

It looks like the Medallion system is here to stay, as it has been a feature in every season of Chapter 5 - although it was once known as Aspects. This season's medallions seem a little less overpowered than some from previous seasons, which could be seen as good or bad news, depending on your play style.

Regardless, here's a look at this season's high-risk, high-reward Medallions:

  • Siphon Medallion - Found in Castle Doom and equipped by the Doombot boss, this medallion replenishes your shield by siphoning HP from defeated enemies.
  • Stealth Medallion - Worn by the Mysterio boss in Doomstadt, this medallion grants temporary invisibility while crouched.
  • Reveal Medallion - This medallion is held by Emma Frost at The Raft. Defeat her and you'll gain the ability to occasionally ping nearby enemies.

When does Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4 end?

Epic typically waits until close to the end of a season to make official announcements, so the exact end date may change. However, based on the Battle Pass schedule, Chapter 5 Season 4 is expected to end on November 2.

After that, we expect a month of Fortnite OG focused on Chapter 2 before a new chapter begins in December. We'll update you with confirmed details as they become available. For now, enjoy the Marvel-themed island until just after Halloween!
