Redfall will Only Feature Quality Mode on Xbox at Launch

An update will come later.

Redfall is releasing next month and it appears Xbox players may have to wait for one additional feature. Instead of launching with a performance mode and quality mode, the Xbox version of Redfall will only come with quality mode, at least for a little while.

The announcement comes from the official Redfall Twitter. Arkane Studios was quick to share the post as well. As for what that means for Xbox owners, they'll only be able to play the game at a capped FPS. Xbox Series X will be able to run the game at 4K resolution at 30 FPS, whereas the Xbox Series S will include 1440p and 30 FPS.

Now, this is all only for a limited amount of time. The good news is Arkane Studios is working on bringing performance mode to Redfall later on. The upgrade will allow users to switch from quality mode to performance mode and raise the 30 FPS to 60 FPS.

What is Quality Mode

If you prefer to get the best possible image out of your screen and game, then quality mode is for you. Instead of focusing on a high frame rate, you'll get improved picture quality, graphics, and view distance, among other options that deal with the overall appearance of the game.

What is Performance Mode

Performance mode is the opposite and instead focuses on gameplay. Opting to go the performance route will see higher FPS and all around smoother gameplay. This can include improving system latency and reducing the amount of screen tearing you'll see when moving quickly.

Redfall is launching on May 2 for Xbox and PC. If you want to learn more about the story, world, and characters, you can play the narrative interactive game Take Back Redfall: Interactive Adventure.
