Ninja Explains Why Kick Has a Better Chance of Dethroning Twitch Than Mixer Did

Here’s What Went Wrong

Ninja revealed the reason for Mixer’s downfall, and argued that Kick doesn’t have the same problem.

There’s no one more qualified to speak about the streaming platform wars than Tyler “Ninja” Blevins. He reportedly banked upwards of $30M from his deal with Mixer, spent some time bouncing from site to site, and now goes live on everything everywhere all at once.

Since launching late last year, Kick has never been far from the headlines. There’s been controversy over its seemingly lax Terms of Service and questions about sustainability, as well as a few huge signings.N

Ninja on Kick

Kick is co-owned by Tyler “Trainwreck” Faraz Niknam and backed by crypto gambling company Stake. Higher revenue splits, a simplified path to affiliate, and better support are some of the ways they try to be more creator friendly.

Many Say Kick Won’t Survive, Here’s What Ninja Thinks

Talking on stream, Ninja stated “I don’t think Kick is bad. And obviously it’s incredible for competition…competition breeds amazing deals”.

When asked why Mixer failed so badly, he made it clear that money wasn’t the issue. “They took too long to get things done” Ninja explained, adding “there was like 80 billion different people that had to reach out to somebody else to get confirmation to change anything”.

According to gaming news personality @JakeSucky, Ninja also predicted that with Kick, Trainwreck would likely be able to get these sorts of changes implemented himself, or at least make the process much faster.

So, Ninja seems confident that Kick has legs, but can it take down Twitch? Probably not is the answer – he said it’s inevitable that Twitch will need to do something in order to compete, but “Twitch isn’t going anywhere”.

Ninja is working on some exciting projects of his own too, having recently been appointed as Chief Innovation Officer at GameSquare. I wonder if we’ll see him live on Kick anytime soon…
