Jason “JasonR” Ruchelski joined FaZe late in June as their first Valorant signing and captain of their competitive outfit. At the time of the announcement, the former CS:GO star was clearly excited about the move and his future.
On the same day, FaZe Clan revealed that they had also picked up Corey “Corey” Nigra, who was previously an Overwatch pro. JasonR was then expected to work with management to build out the rest of the squad around Corey and himself.
However, as the weeks went by, it became obvious that this wasn’t the case. FaZe participated in tournaments with various stand-ins, but JasonR made it known that he had no part in any roster decisions.
Following the recent signings of Johnny “Marved” Nguyen and Zachary “ZachaREEE” Lombardo to FaZe, JasonR expressed his feelings live on stream. “I had no say in who they were picking up at all” he explained, adding “I’m not going to be forced to play with anyone I don’t want to”.
After a few days of internal discussion, the split has now been made official. FaZe broke the news to fans via the @FaZeUpdate Twitter account.
FaZe Clan and @JasonRuchelski have decided to part ways - he’s looking to build a Valorant roster & seek opportunities elsewhere.

We had a great working experience with Jason, and hope our paths cross again in the future! #FaZeUp
With the next Valorant Ignition Series event, FaZe Clan’s own Invitational, just days away, the roster is still incomplete. Potentially the spaces could be filled by Harrison “Psalm” Chang and Rory “Dephh” Jackson who featured alongside Corey and co at the T1 x Nerd Street Gamers Showdown.
As for JasonR, he will be taking this opportunity to create a team that he is comfortable with. Exactly who this will include remains to be seen.
This doesn’t mean that he won’t be signing to another org, but that he will firstly want to ensure that he has the right players around him.
Best of luck to both JasonR and FaZe Clan going forward, hopefully one day we will get to see the two parties compete against each other.
