After being tested for a few weeks during the closed beta, Riot Games decided not to include ‘rated’ mode at launch. They explained that it was important to firstly ensure that Valorant was stable and to handle any major bugs.
However, having spent a couple of weeks sweating the standard playlist, many fans have found themselves longing for competitive action. Some complain that with nothing to push for, gameplay is starting to feel repetitive and even a bit boring.
Luckily for these people, it doesn’t sound like we will have to wait too much longer for the return of ranked. Joe Ziegler, Game Director for Valorant, recently took to Twitter to share some good news. “To answer the biggest question: rated (competitive mode) will likely be out some time next week”, he explained.
Hey everyone, It's been hectic, so I haven't had a lot of time to post. To answer the biggest question: rated (competitive mode) will likely be out some time next week. We're spending this week putting together that release and making sure it is good. =)

Based on the dates of previous patches, this means that we could see rated mode added as soon as Tuesday, June 23. Nothing is set in stone, but maybe it’s time to get back on the grind!
The developers have previously confirmed that all closed beta ranks will be reset, so players will have a fresh chance to get off to a strong start.
