What To Do To Prepare For Destiny 2's Witch Queen

Some Steps For Savathun Slaying Success

Destiny 2's Witch Queen is practically right around the swampy corner and if you are feeling overwhelmed by the imminent threat of Savathun, you are in the right place. The expansion is set to launch on February 22, 2022, and will be bringing a whole slew of new activities that will no doubt put your Guardian to the test.

While the base Power level will be increasing to 1350, the soft cap alone will be at 1500. So if you are wanting to make sure you are set up for success to jump right in when the Witch Queen launches here is everything you should be doing to get ready!

Spend Gunsmith Materials

Banshee-44 is getting another new job next season and will be doing away with Gunsmith Materials and Weapon Telemetries. This gunsmith will instead be utilizing a similar reputation system to what Crucible, Gambit, and Vanguard strikes have.

While the rewards remain mostly unknown, Bungie states that to earn rank progress with Banshee-44 you will need to dismantle Legendary and Exotic weapons and armor or complete daily Gunsmith bounties.

To maximize your potential now, cash in all your resources with Banshee-44 so you have a nice arsenal of weapons you can toss as soon as the Witch Queen launches.

Stockpile Bounties

This is likely not the first time you have heard of this strategy but Bungie does allow for some bounties to carry over from season to season. It won't always be a huge boost, but if you cash in some larger bounties with a fireteam you may be looking at a nice step ahead of others on your Seasonal Artifact when the Witch Queen launches.

Weekly Bounties should be your biggest priority followed by daily bounties that will give you XP. Make sure you don't save any bounties from the Tangled Shore of course and prioritize those on locations such as the Moon weeklies and the Weekly bounties from Shaw Han and Variks. If you are fortunate enough to still have Iron Banner bounties saved, these will not only award you a nice XP boost but also you run a chance at getting an Iron Banner weapon early before it is officially released.

Grab All Of Year 4 Seasonal Weapons You Can

The loot pool in Destiny is going to go through a major overhaul when the Witch Queen arrives and it won't just be all of the new toys we are getting. Bungie announced earlier that the Year 4 seasonal content will be leaving the game on February 22nd and with it, all seasonal weapons will be leaving the loot pool.

I recommend making sure you have at least one of each seasonal weapon with a roll you like. Though I am sure they will not be gone forever, we do not know when these items will be cycled back into the game.

Run The Harbringer and Presage

These aren't necessarily "must-dos" but these two staples will be leaving Destiny 2 soon and I recommend running them at least once more to earn a role of Hawkmoon and Dead Man's Tale.

Starting in Season 16, Xur will feature rerolls of these weapons but it will certainly not be the same experience as earning them through combat.

Clean Your Vault

I am not trying to attack anyone here but I am positive you need to take a good long hard look at your Vault and make sure you need all twelve of those Falling Guillotines.

For now, Bungie is keeping the Vault cap at 500 but the Witch Queen is going to bring about countless more armor sets and over 40 new guns when it launches. For Guardians that have been around since Year 1, there have been hundreds of new pieces put into the game and everyone's vault is starting to hit that bursting limit. While I do recommend holding on to as much as you can till the start of Season 16 so you can maximize your Gunsmith rank if you are tight on room or have a bunch of blues just sitting there do yourself a favor and take out the trash.
