Yay move to Disguised Toast's team might be beneficial for VCT Challengers

Yay might be the saviour of VCT Challengers

Disguised Toast, one of the most popular Twitch streamers, announced the signing of former Optic and C9 superstar Yay to his DSG VALORANT roster which is competing in the North American Challengers league, but what does this move mean for the entire VCT Challengers scene?

In a recent interview, Disguised Toast explains the specifics and behind the scene details that went down before the official signing of the superstar, explaining in the process as well that this move could be beneficial for the North American VCT Challengers circuit in terms of viewership and attracting more tier one pros to the tier two scene.

Jacob "Yay" Whiteaker competed under Optic before franchising, where the superstar managed to secure a second place in VALORANT Champions 2022, the third place in VALORANT Masters Copenhagen and the first place in Masters Reykjavík, cementing Yay as the best VALORANT player in the world.

The international events racked millions of viewers all across the world, with Optic games being the most watched games in most international events, and it is not difficult to guess the reason: Yay. For example, Optic vs LOUD in the Grand Finals of VALORANT Champions 2022 had over 1.5 million viewers, and if a quarter of that translates to the North American VCT Challengers league because of this recent move, that would double or triple the viewership of the competition and help make the scene more sustainable and even more attracting for organizations.

As Disguised Toast stated in the interview, with this move, there's hope that tier one pros do not see VCT Challengers league as a risk to their career and see the benefits of competing in it.
