VCT LOCK//IN Day 8: Recap

Day 8 recapped!

Day 8 and the second day of the Omega Bracket in the VCT LOCK//IN tournament took place today and here's a recap of all the action!

Team Vitality 2-0 Global Esports

The first matchup of the day was between Team Vitality and Global Esports. Team Vitality started off the first map, which was Split, extremely strong by taking a 9-3 lead after the first half. Global Esports won the first round to open the second half, but Team Vitality bounced back quickly and won the next four rounds to win the game. The final score was 13-4.

The second map, which was Pearl, was closer than the first one. Team Vitality again took the lead after the first half, this time with a score of 7-5. However, Global Esports had different plans in the second half, as they won eight out of ten rounds to win the game 13-9.

It all came down to map three, which was Lotus. Global Esports opened the half winning two rounds, but then Team Vitality took over, winning eight of the next ten rounds to go up with a score of 8-4 at halftime. Global Esports again won the two pistol rounds to open the second half, but unfortunately their luck ran out there, as Team Vitality then won five straight rounds to win the game. The final score was 13-6.

Leading Team Vitality was Twisten, who had a KDA of 60-36-6 through all three maps, as well as an ADR of 177. Incredible stuff from the 19-year-old. On the other side leading Global Esports were Monyet and t3xture. The former had a KDA of 45-41-15 and the latter had a KDA of 46-45-4 through all three maps, respectively.

With the win, this means that Team Vitality advance to the Quarterfinals of the Omega Group where they are set to play against Leviatan on February 25th. That's going to be a great matchup. With the loss, this means that Global Esports are eliminated from the tournament due to the single-elimination format.

The second matchup of the day was between FUT Esports and RRQ. The first map, which was Lotus, was a blowout in FUT's favor. They won the first half 10-2 and then kept on winning rounds until they won the game with a final score of 13-3.

The second map, Pearl, was much closer. RRQ won the first half this time around with a score of 7-5. FUT Esports then opened the second half winning two rounds before losing four straight. 100 Thieves 2-1 Edward Gaming (EDG)

The third and final matchup of the day was between 100 Thieves and EDG. The first map, Icebox, was pretty back and forth the whole game. 100 Thieves won the first half with a score of 8-4 and ultimately won the game 13-10. Things were looking good for them.

However, on the second map, which was Lotus, things turned downhill quickly for 100T after the first half, which they won 7-5. EDG then cannon balled ahead of 100 Thieves and won eight of the next ten rounds to win the game 13-9.

It all came down to the third and final map, which was Pearl. EDG took a 7-5 lead after the first half and things were looking good for them. However, 100 Thieves were not going home that easily and they won seven more rounds to force overtime with a score of 12-12. In OT, 100 Thieves looked perfect and won both rounds. The final score of the game was 14-12.

Leading 100 Thieves was stellar, who had a KDA of 66-43-17 through all three maps, as well as an ADR of 175. Amazing stuff. On the other side, leading Edward Gaming was CHICHOO, who had a KDA of 62-49-13 through all three maps. The Chinese player also had an insane number of clutches in the series to help keep his team in the game, but unfortunately it wasn't enough in the end.

With the win, this means that 100 Thieves now advance to the Quarterfinals of the Omega Group where they will face off against FUT Esports on February 26th. With the loss, this unfortunately means that Edward Gaming are eliminated from the tournament and sent home. A great effort from them in this series, however.
