Valorant Player Population Has Seemingly Passed Record Monthly High of 20 Million Active Agents

Season Six saw a lot of new Agents.

Valorant is quickly becoming one of the top-played first-person shooters available. Which is saying something when compared to the game's competition and when it was originally released. Having not been around all that long, its total player base has grown exponentially throughout the three years it's been available.

When Valorant was released on PC in June 2020, it was up against titles like Call of Duty: Warzone and Apex Legends. While the former was released in March of the same year, it already had a fan following due to previous titles in the series. The latter was a fresh new title from Electronic Arts that came as a surprise but was ultimately welcomed by players nearly instantly.

As Valorant launched in between both games, it faced being overshadowed by CoD and had to stand out from what Apex had done. Given it had very little time to figure out what it wanted to be, today, it's a shock to see it have a larger player count than both previously mentioned games.

It's important to note that the stats mentioned below are estimated based on data tracked by connected players on Tracker Network.

Stats show that Valorant sits at the top spot among both games at a total of 81,076,339 players since release. When compared to Tracker's official stats for Warzone, it's in second with 52,928,066 players. While Apex is in third at about 24,192,644 total players.

Taking a closer look at those stats, Valorant has seen exponential growth throughout its entire lifetime. The game saw a huge spike in players in March of this year. For the entire month of February, the game saw 18,296,396 players jump into the multiplayer shooter. Whereas, the following month that total count grew by 10% to a total of 20,123,734 players. This marks an all-time record  for the number of people playing Valorant.

All this growth could be related to the recent update in March. Last month saw the release of Episode Six, Act Two of Valorant which also included the new Agent Gekko. Typically, a new addition or major update will see a player increase. The same happened with the launch of Episode Six, Act 1 back in January, though the growth was only 6.5% between December and January.

Having only been released through Riot Games' website and the Epic Store, download records and stat trackers are difficult to determine all around. Again, these details are taken from Tracker Network's official stat tracker. Riot Games has not released a detailed track of how many players currently play Valorant.
