VALORANT to Nerf Run and Gun in Upcoming Patch

Is this enough to fix the run and gun problem?

VALORANT has been praised for its strategic and team-oriented mechanics. However, since its release, one lingering concern has been prevalent. Run and Gun issue, which some argue undermines the tactical nature of the game, has been regarded as the most frustrating things to come across in VALORANT. In response, Riot Games acknowledged the issue and promise to address it in the upcoming patch. Here's how.

The recent PBE notes mention that the dev team has made adjustments to reduce Center Biasing while in all movement states besides walking or standing still. And as a result of that change, guns will be less accurate when fired while moving, as weapons' shots will have a higher chance to be further from the center of the crosshair.  And while this alone might not be the finest fix to the most frustrating issue that plagued VALORANT for a while now, it is a start.

In addition, VALORANT also addresses how weapons were accurate on ascenders (Ziplines and Ropes), increasing the minimum spread on ropes and zip-lines, which will make it almost impossible to be accurate on that state, this change comes to all weapons except snipers and shotguns.

PBE Notes about the "Run and Gun" issue:

WEAPON UPDATES:

Weapon Accuracy on Ascenders / Ziplines (Ropes) – Min spread on ropes increased to 65% of the walking spread:

  • Rifles from .8 to1.3
  • Classic from .35 to .55
  • Frenzy from .35 to .52
  • Ghost from .35 to .6
  • Sheriff from .35 to .78
  • SMGs from .3 to .65
  • Snipers & Shotguns remain unchanged
  • The walking and running spread on ropes increased to match the walking and running spread on the ground.

ERROR POWER:

Error Power (also known as Center Biasing for us) is a tool we utilize to reward accuracy by biasing shots toward the center of the crosshair.

  • We’ve made the adjustment to significantly reduce center biasing while in any movement states besides walking or stationary. As a result, guns will be less accurate when fired while moving, as shots will have a higher chance to be further from the center of the crosshair.

The next update will drop at the start of June, alongside Pearl Changes and Chamber Nerfs.
