Perrikaryal has been taking down Elden Ring enemies in a very unique way, having bound certain in-game actions to be triggered by her brain activity.
Esports news personality @JakeSucky has been on the hunt for wild gaming stories that deserve more attention online. This latest one definitely fits the bill!
British/Canadian Twitch streamer Perrikaryal is using sensors to capture her brain activity and control her Elden Ring character. Viewers can also see her brain activity in real-time thanks to an EEG that’s linked to a “Power Meter” graphic on-screen.
Here’s the explanation from her !mindcontrol command in chat:
“I'm using an EEG (brain imaging device) to monitor my brain activity live on screen. It works by picking up electrical activity from my brain on the sensor pads on my head, made conductive with saline solution. I then trained it to recognise certain states and binded it to my attack key!”
Right now, Perri only has the attack ability set up this way and still uses a controller for everything else. However, theoretically, you could attach different brain activity to multiple different binds and eventually play purely with your mind.
Don’t expect to be speedrunning Elden Ring this way just yet though. According to Jake, “it's very difficult for the program to differ such activity, Perri tells me it takes hours of training and refining for each action”.
Hopefully the positive response to Jake's tweet inspires Perrikaryal to keep pushing the limits, it's super entertaining to watch!
Perri doesn’t only stream gameplay. She has a Master’s degree in psychology and discusses various topics each day, ranging from physics to current events.

This isn’t the only alternative input method we’ve been impressed by lately. 18-year-old gamer @DeadlyPG competes in Fortnite using his voice, meanwhile @MissMikkaa continues to destroy epic bosses using a dance pad!
