The Day Before Continues To Get In Trouble, Removed From Steam Over Trademark Claims

Community backlash is not enough, so we are adding legal allegations to the fire.

The Day Before is getting more and more into trouble lately. It started with an interesting teaser precisely two years ago, but we almost didn't hear anything since, and the more teaser trailers the dev team released, the more backlash it received because the gameplay seemed like it needed to be more genuine.

If you have yet to hear about The Day Before, it is an open-world, multiplayer survival game in a post-apocalyptic world. If you look at the released footage, it seems like The Division with zombies. I even dare to say it's a Days Gone with cars instead of bikes with multiplayer.

In a tweet by Fntastic, the game developers, they shared that the game was removed from Steam over trademark claims in the US. The Day Before was supposed to be released soon, in March 2023. But with the recent announcement, we learn it is now pushed back to November 2023.

The game received much backlash from the gaming community in recent weeks and months, with new footage looking suspicious. We need to get information about gameplay mechanics and actual UI. There are no expectations with players. With the announcement, the developers wanted to end all of this with a fresh new gameplay video later this month, but that was also put on hold because of the trademark claims.

According to Fntastic, the trademark was available before they announced the game, and when they were ready to register the trademark after the game announcement, an individual had already filed for it before them.

Personally, I couldn't wait for The Day Before. I like the overall concept, and I was optimistic about the gameplay. I hope that good news will break soon and we'll receive what we are hoping for. A good, open-world zombies survival game.
