Spanish esports organization Team Heretics have announced that they are benching Aleksander "zeek" Zygmunt for the remainder of the split in the VCT EMEA League. Subbing in his place will be Assistant Coach Brandon "weber" Weber.

The organization stated on Twitter they made this roster change due to "personality mismatches that have prevented us from fully realizing our shared vision and values." Team Heretics also added they believed this decision was necessary for the remainder of the split and the success of their team in the upcoming games.
As of publication, Team Heretics are 1-5 and sit in last place in the VCT EMEA League. Things haven't gone too well for them. According to reports, fellow Team Heretics player Ričardas "Boo" Lukaševičius started off IGLing for the team after his success with OG LDN UTD last year. However, by the time the EMEA League started this past March, the IGL responsibilities belonged to zeek.
Zeek's performance in this Split hasn't been bad, so this roster change seems a little bit questionable, but internal issues were certainly the reason for it. Fellow professional Valorant players and fans alike blasted Heretics for this move, saying they were getting rid of their best player.
Team Heretics' next matchup comes against Giants Gaming on May 5th. This will be the first competitive experience for weber since November 2020, where he played in First Strike: Europe with RIX.GG. Since then, he has coached for teams such as RIX.GG Thunder and MOUZ, before joining Team Heretics as the Assistant Coach this past November.
Even though weber has a lack of competitive experience compared to the rest of the players, Team Heretics stated they believe he will be able to perform and change the dynamics of the team.
This isn't the first time in the VCT EMEA League we've seen a member of the coaching staff sub in for a player. Karmine Corp have been playing with their Assistant Coach Ahmed "ZE1SH" El Sheikh since April 19th, due to player Alexis "Newzera" Humbert stepping down from the active roster. They have managed to get one win in his absence, so perhaps there is still hope for Team Heretics.
