Fortnite is well known for its crossover events with various movies, TV shows, and celebrities. Recently, some fans have been wondering if there is a Godzilla event coming to Fortnite, especially after the release of the movie Godzilla vs. Kong in March 2021. However, as of now, there is no official confirmation or evidence that such an event is in the works.
The speculation about a possible Godzilla event in Fortnite started when players noticed a huge eye moving under the ice at Polar Peak, a location on the map that was affected by a volcanic eruption in Season 8.
Some players thought that the eye belonged to Godzilla, or another giant monster, and that it would eventually break free and cause havoc on the island. This theory was supported by the fact that Fortnite had previously collaborated with other film franchises, such as Avengers and John Wick, and that the timing of the eye’s appearance coincided with the release of Godzilla: King of the Monsters in May 2019.
However, the eye turned out to be part of a creature called The Devourer, also known as Cattus, which emerged from the ice and fought against a giant robot called The Mecha Team Leader in a live event called The Final Showdown in July 2019. The Devourer was defeated and its skeleton can still be seen in the water near the island. Therefore, the eye was not related to Godzilla at all.
Another reason why some fans expected a Godzilla event in Fortnite was the existence of a Tokyo-inspired location called Mega City, which was added to the map in Chapter 4 Season 2. Mega City is reminiscent of the urban settings where Godzilla often battles other monsters in his movies. Some players thought that Mega City could be a hint for a future Godzilla event, or at least a tribute to the iconic kaiju.
However, Mega City has not been involved in any major events or changes since its introduction, and there is no indication that it has any connection to Godzilla. Mega City is likely just one of the many diverse locations that Fortnite has added to its map over time, such as Colossal Coliseum, Stealthy Stronghold, and Coral Castle.
So far, there is no evidence that a Godzilla event is coming to Fortnite anytime soon. While it would be exciting to see the King of the Monsters make an appearance in the game, it seems that Epic Games has not planned such a crossover yet.
