Is Jett overpowered in Valorant?

Once deemed as a somewhat useless agent, many pros are now asking for Jett to be nerfed.

With regular patches and an ever evolving meta, different agents go in and out of fashion in Valorant all the time. For a long time, Jett was considered one of the weakest characters to call on, however some people think the tide has changed.

A recent tweet from Tyler “Ninja” Blevins, claiming that Jett is the “most OP agent at a high level” has sparked discussion across the community.

Whilst Ninja may not be widely regarded as a top level player, Valorant is currently his main focus in gaming and he pays a lot of attention to the competitive scene. His views on Jett are certainly controversial, but have the backing of a bunch of pros.

One of the stars of the newly formed Team Liquid Valorant roster, who took 3rd place in their first official tournament this past weekend, is Adil “ScreaM” Benrlitom. ScreaM shared Ninja’s post, adding “Jett ult is my new nightmare for sure”.

So, what’s the sudden issue with this light-footed Duelist. Firstly, Jett’s ability to quickly escape and avoid being traded after picking up an Op kill adds to the already contentious strength of the sniper.

It’s not just with this weapon that she can be a nuisance though. Jett’s utility allows her to make some incredibly risky plays, with the power to simply dash away if things get out of hand.

Most despised by certain pros though, is the South Korean agent’s Ultimate Ability. In the right hands, Blade Storm can be abused in a number of ways. This has left some people calling for Riot to nerf Jett.

The thing to remember here is that a lot of these problems are only really visible at the highest level of gameplay. In everyday casual and ranked lobbies, Jett can still feel pretty average.

Whether the developers agree with Ninja and co remains to be seen, but with the next update scheduled for August 20, we will find out very soon.
