How to unlock Beyond Light's new Stasis Aspects: Entropic Shard locations

Follow these steps to unlock your first Aspect and take Stasis to the next level.

The release of the new Stasis subclasses has seen Bungie implement a new form of customization that allows a greater degree of control over the many different upgrades that you can acquire around Europa.

This is done through Aspects and Fragments.

Aspects are the main form of customization and grant the largest bonuses and upgrades to your Stasis subclass. These upgrades can range from causing your class ability to release a wave of Stasis energy, to shattered enemies releasing ice shards that track and freeze other enemies.

Fragments are the lesser customization items that can be slotted into Aspects to allow for interesting passive effects and stat bonuses. One Fragment, known as ‘Whisper of Refraction’, grants Super energy when a frozen target is defeated. Since this is a fairly powerful ability a negative 10 stat modifier is given to both Intellect and Discipline.

To start unlocking Aspects you need to have done two things.

First, you must have completed the main story missions of Beyond Light in order to unlock the ‘Born in Darkness’ from the Exo Stranger.

Secondly, you must acquire the ‘Salvation’s Grip’ Grenade Launcher which is done through a quest given by The Drifter, also after the story missions have been completed. Here’s a handy guide on how to get this new Exotic.

Born In Darkness

  1. The first step of this quest requires the player to charge up a skeleton key in order to access Clovis Bray’s journal where the secrets of Stasis are possibly contained.

To do this the player must collect 50 Energized Ether from Fallen on Europa and achieve 10 final blows with Stasis melee attacks. A quick way to do this step is to run through the Concealed Void Lost Sector in Asterion Abyss, as it contains Fallen enemies, with the Monte Carlo equipped in order to quickly regain melee energy.

  1. The second step requires the player to complete three strikes with a Stasis subclass equipped and to affect 60 combatants with Stasis in playlist Strikes. Pretty self-explanatory, simply load up the strike playlist with a build focusing on ability regeneration to complete this the fastest.
  2. You must now head back to Europa and travel to Cadmus Ridge, then through to Bray Exoscience. Continue to head deeper into the complex, following the objective marker, to reach Eternity where you will come across another Crux of Darkness. Soon, the area will flood with enemies and a large Fallen Captain named Weniks who you must defeat. Once he is killed, the next step will begin.
  3. The skeleton key is now fully charged and must be given to the Exo Stranger. You must meet her at the Bunker E15 Lost Sector in Eventide Ruins. Make your way through the Lost Sector as normal. Bunker E15 is one of the most unique Lost Sectors in Destiny as you can free Clovis Bray Security Frames from their Vex prisons while progressing through the area. Once freed, these Frames will follow you through the Lost Sector and fight by your side.

After defeating the Lost Sector boss, loot the chest and head through the now open door. Up the stairs you will find the Exo Stranger who will use the skeleton key to unlock Brays journal. Meet the Stranger back in Beyond to complete the quest and move on to the next quest to unlock the first Stasis Aspect.

Aspect on Control

This quest will reward the player with their first Stasis Aspect, which for Warlocks is ‘Iceflare Bolts’. The description for the upgrade reads: “Shattering a frozen target spawns seekers that track and freeze other nearby enemies.”

To unlock this Aspect the player must find 5 Entropic Shards on Europa and destroy them with Salvation’s Grip.

There is a video guide for these Entropic Locations done by Grayson Suttles (@Suttledge) if you prefer that format. If you’d rather read and look at screenshots then continue on below. Here are the locations:

Asterion Abyss

Head to the main Vex structure in the center of the zone. The Shard is located on top of the part of the structure that is in line with the other Vex structure against the rock outcrop. The top of the structure can be accessed on the north side. Simply shoot the Shard with Salvation’s Grip to destroy it and gain progress towards the quest. I accidentally shot the Shard before taking a screenshot but the red circle shows where the Shard is located.

Drop down into the Concealed Void Lost Sector and make your way through it as normal. In the final boss room if you look up while standing in the center of the room you will see the shard a few meters above you.

Cadmus Ridge

Towards the west side of the area is the entrance to Bray Exoscience. While facing Bray Exoscience, follow the ice wall around to the right. You will see the Shard directly in front of you.

Eventide Ruins

Travel to Eventide Ruins and then up the Fallen elevator in the north section of the area to enter Riis Reborn Approach. Where we are going is the room with the Fallen teleporter, if you remember from the times the story missions took you to this area.

Continue along Riis Reborn Approach, this early part of the area only has a single pathway, until you reach a room with two exits, one to the top left above a set of stairs, and another exit to the right side on the ground floor of the room. Take the right exit. Follow this until you go up an elevator and land facing some stairs. Behind this set of stairs is the Entropic Shard.

Head up the stairs the Shard was under and then through the Fallen teleporter. Continue through this new open room and into the hallway beyond. Upon entering the hallway room be sure to take the left corridor and not the open door in front of you. This left passage will lead you to Technocrat’s Iron.

You will soon find yourself outside again. Jump across the cables to the circular platform and then across the other side to the doorway. The next main room after this outside section only has one exit so you can't get lost. Follow the path until you reach a large open area on top of a chasm that has multiple platforms and what appears to be railway lines for moving heavy machinery.

Head along these machinery lines to the 3rd platform, which is the last one, and head through the door into a corridor that will eventually exit into a large circular room. The Entropic Shard is located in this circular room right next to the first pillar to your right once entering the room.

Now that you have destroyed five Entropic Shards and completed this part of the quest, you now need to head back to the Crux of Darkness in Riis Reborn Approach.

Remember that room that was mentioned earlier with the two exits, one on the left on top of a set of stairs and another to the right which we took to get to Technocrat’s Iron?

Make your way back to this room and instead take the left exit on top of the stairs, follow this hallway around, and then drop down to reach the room with the Crux. Commune with the Crux and kill a few waves of enemies, and an Overload Captain, to claim your first Stasis Aspect.
