Epic Teases New Fortnite x Nike Airphoria Crossover

Looks like Nike’s .Swoosh thing on Polygon might show up in Fortnite soon.

Fortnite fans are in for a treat as Epic Games and Nike have teamed up for a new collaboration that promises to be the ultimate sneakerhunt. The event, dubbed Airphoria, will kick off on June 20th and will feature a Nike-themed Creative Island within Fortnite, powered by Unreal Engine.

The collaboration was teased by Nike on its official Twitter account, with a 25-second video that showed the Fortnite and Nike Air Max logos appearing together, followed by an Airphoria logo that was pumped with air. The video also displayed the Unreal Engine and .SWOOSH logos, indicating the involvement of both the game engine and Nike’s new Web3 platform.

While details are scarce, some sources suggest that the event will involve some kind of NFT-related game for Nike sneakers, allowing players to collect, trade and showcase their virtual footwear. NFTs, or non-fungible tokens, are unique digital assets that can be verified on a blockchain. Web3 is a term that refers to the decentralized and user-centric web, where users have more control over their data and identity.

This is not the first time that Epic Games and Nike have collaborated, as they have previously brought Travis Scott’s Air Jordan 6 and Giannis Antetokounmpo’s Nike Zoom Freak 4 PE to Fortnite. The game has also featured crossovers with other prominent brands, such as Star Wars, Marvel, DC and more.
