EG Continue to Struggle in Loss to 100T

NA team Evil Geniuses struggle in VCT Americas League

North American VCT team Evil Geniuses have continued to struggle, with their latest loss in the Americas League coming against 100 Thieves.

After a round two exit in the VCT LOCK//IN tournament this February, EG had some work to do. So far in the Americas League, it has not worked out well for them, as they have started off with a 0-2 record. Most of their matches so far have been lost badly and things aren't looking too good for the nine-man roster.

Yesterday's matchup saw EG go up against 100 Thieves, who were also winless. The first map was Haven. EG started off hot, winning the first two pistol rounds. However, 100 Thieves bounced back and then won five straight rounds to go up 5-2. Evil Geniuses then won four of the remaining five rounds in the half to tie up the score 6-6 going into halftime. 100 Thieves came out steaming in the second half, winning the first five straight rounds. They continued their dominance, not giving EG a chance to come back. The final score was 13-9.

The second map was Icebox. Evil Geniuses subbed in Demon1 in favor of BcJ for this map. Although this potentially would give them more firepower, it was a questionable move because BcJ was playing well. 100 Thieves looked good in the first half, winning nine rounds, and going up 9-3. They finished things off in the second half by winning three more rounds to get the win. The final score was 13-5.

It's not clear as to why Evil Geniuses have been struggling so much, but perhaps some of the blame could fall on their Head Coach Christine "potter" Chi. She's proven to build and lead good teams in the past, so maybe this one just needs a little bit more time. Perhaps going with a nine-man roster was also a bad move, as opposed to going with six or seven players. Only time will tell what will happen, but it's running out fast for EG.

Their next matchup will be against the 0-2 KRU Esports on April 16th.
