Dr Disrespect’s Game Is Going Next Level This March 17th

The Future of DEADROP Revealed, With a New Big Update Coming up Next Month

Earlier this week, Dr Disrespect took the stage to share more about the future of DEADROP, developed by Midnight Society, the studio he co-founded with FPS veteran developers. Among them is Robert Bowling, former Creative Strategist and Community Manager at Infinity Ward.

There are a few key learnings from the announcement that is giving us a window to the upcoming release and a bit beyond:

  • Instead of a release every six weeks, "Snapshot" releases moving forward will now appear every few months. Longer development cycles will introduce more significant changes and improvements to the game. So we are expected to get 3-4 important updates a year.
  • "The Tower" is where the game takes place. DEADROP is a "vertical extraction shooter" so it is to be expected.
  • "Variants" is the codename for players that minted one of the 10,000 NFT characters in the game and gained access to previous "Snapshots". After the upcoming update, other kinds of players will be able to drop in.

A few hours ago, Doc announced the release date of Snapshot V, coming March 17th.

Snapshot V will introduce the first sector in the tower, called "Cold Storage". But there's more to it. Six "fully completed" weapons will be included with customization options of 13 attachments, alongside smoke grenades, consumable healing kits, armor, and helmets that will enable players to display their facial cosmetics.

More information will probably drop closer to release in mid-March.
